Brownie Brittle: New Holiday Varieties Are Here!

Brownie Brittle Holiday Selection

Do you have a favorite snack that tastes so delicious, you literally cannot believe how good it is? And maybe you buy a bag of that snack, and sit with the entire bag in your lap and just eat and eat until there’s nothing left in the bag except crumbs, but then you pour the crumbs out of the bag into your hand and lick them off of your palm? Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.

For me, the sweet snack that makes my head explode is Brownie Brittle, which I first discovered at a food show about three years ago. If you are not yet hip to the Mother of all Sweet Snacks, let me explain that Brownie Brittle is a cookie-like baked treat that tastes like the well-done edges of the Brownie where the batter meets the pan. There are a few lame imitators out there but Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle is the original, and it is just insane.

Brownie Brittle Bites

Brownie Brittle comes in a varierty of delicious regular flavors that are available in your local market year-round, but during the Holiday Season each year they come out with few new, seasonal varieties and they always hook me up, because Brownie Brittle is my Holiday snack time jam. This year is no exception. Let me give you a quick run down of these irresistible, available for a-limited-time-only treats so you can add them to your holiday shopping list

Salted Caramel

The salted caramel chocolate treat is still very much on-trend again, and Browne Brittle leads the charge this Holiday season with its Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle with a Dark Chocolate Drizzle — for added festiveness! Some of you may not know that adding salt to chocolate does not make the treat taste saltier, but rather it enhances the flavor, and makes it taste like the most delicious chocolate on the planet. I brought a bag of Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle to the office to share with my team, and not only was it was devoured within minutes, but my co-workers simply would not shut up about how amazing it was. They are still talking about it.

Chocolate Chip BB

Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle — a year-round favorite — gets all dressed up for Santa with the addition of a little sweet white drizzle on top. Check it out!

Chocolate Chip BB

This particular variety of crunchy, chocolaty goodness is really special when broken up over a dish of ice cream with maybe some Trader Joe’s frozen cherries tossed in for good measure. Yummy.

Thindulgent

Things start to get a little crazy with what they are calling Thindulgent Dark Chocolate Bark, which is Mint Brownie Brittle pieces covered in dark chocolate, topped with peppermint flakes and a white chocolate drizzle. Sassy! Bring this to the Holiday Party and make lots of friends!

Dark Chocolate with Peppermint

Also brand new this year are Brownie Brittle Bites, which combine the best parts of  candy and cookies all in one outrageously indulgent morsel. Kill me!

Brownie Brittle Bites Peppermint

Imagine Junior Mints wrapped around layers of crunchy Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle and you get the idea. Verdict: Out of Control.

Milk Chocolate Caramel BB Bites

Brownie Brittle Bites also come in Milk Chocolate Caramel in case you do not have diabetes yet. All of these varieties of delicious Brownie Brittle cone in a festive resealable, snowflake-print pouch, with bow on it and everything, so you don’t even need to wrap it! Product Review: Weight Watchers Salted Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bars

Weight Watchers Ice Cream Packaging
All Photos by Gail

Everyone knows the name Weight Watchers as a globally popular and highly successful weight loss program, but did you know that Weight Watchers also has a line of delicious and low calorie prepared foods to make sticking to your diet easier? Some of their most popular products are their decadent desserts, which take the edge off any feeling of being deprived of enjoying something sweet. Recently, we were introduced to one of Weight Watchers‘ new frozen dessert offerings, the Salted Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bar (the name alone sounds amazing!), and we were sent a box to review for The Gig! Here’s the low-calorie low down on this tasty treat!

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bar

While the photo on the box makes the bars look massive, they are about the size of a regular candy bar. Here is what one bar looks like unwrapped. I already want to eat it.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bar Inside View

Inside, you can see a layer of luscious salted caramel resting atop rich-tasting low fat caramel ice cream, which is then enrobed in a milk chocolaty coating. I have enjoyed three of the six bars in the box so far and I can say that both the caramel and the ice cream cream maintain a soft consistency to the bite, rather than being frozen hard, which is great as no defrosting time is needed. These bars are delicious and perfectly cravable for lovers of the continually trending taste of salted caramel, which perfectly accents the smooth, sweet ice cream. There is nothing I do not love about these bars. Another great weight loss product is Clenbutrol.

You would never believe these scrumptious bars are only 120 calories, 6 grams of fat and 0 grams trans fat each! Each bar counts as just 3 Weight Watchers Points Plus. I love everything  about diet tablets but this is taking the cake ! Highlights from the Winter Health & Nutrition Editor Showcase

Editor Showcase Signage
All Photos By Gail

One of our favorite food-related trade shows, Editor Showcase, kicked off its 2014 series on February 20th with an eclectic mix of Health & Nutrition products at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. As both manufacturers and consumers raise their consciousness towards living a healthier lifestyle. I can hardly contain myself at these trade shows, walking in  for the first time and seeing all the Teardrop Flags with the different products to try, it’s exciting to see what new products come onto the market and how well-established brands adapt to changing consumer demands. Here are a a few of our favorite products and displays from the show!

Veggie Blend Ins

Green Giant has partnered with author Jessica Seinfeld (famous for her cookbook on how to Trick your Kids into Eating Vegetables) to promote its new product, Veggie Blend Ins. Each box of Veggie Blend Ins contains three pouches each of pure Carrot, Spinach and Butternut Squash purees which you can add to a wide variety of foods to add nutrition and fiber without necessarily altering the taste of the dish. This is a great idea, even if you enjoy eating vegetables. Green Giant demonstrated a delicious and practical use for the carrot puree by adding it to seasoned taco meat and serving scrumptious Mini Tacos at its booth!

Avocado Apple Feta Sandwiches Sign

No one needs to do anything to convince me to eat an Avocado, because they are delicious. But the Fresh Hass Avocado Board (#LoveOneToday) were on hand to remind us that Avocados are about so much more than just amazing Guacamole. Their booth served a delicious and surprisingly satisfying sandwich of Avocado, Feta Cheese and Fresh sliced Apples on Seven Grain Bread. So Good!

Planters Preanut Variety

Mr. Peanut may still be the Planters Nuts Mascot after all of these years, but did you know that Planters Peanuts now come in tempting and trendy flavors such as Chipotle, Salted Caramel and Cocoa? I had no idea!

Garden Lites Veggie Muffins

Garden Lites is a terrific brand that I always enjoy seeing at these shows. At Editor Showcase they were promoting their excellent frozen Veggie Muffins that mix traditional favorite muffin flavors with vegetables for added moistness and nutrition. These muffins are also lower in calories, higher in protein, gluten free and all natural. Very highly recommended!

Nature Box Snacks

NatureBox (one word) is a cool company that offers monthly subscriptions to receive boxes of assorted wholesome and healthy snacks delivered right to your door. NatureBox snacks are an ideal alternative to junk foods and it goes without saying, but you can see that I am about to, that they all taste delicious. Find out more about NatureBox at This Link.

Vemma Energy Drinks

Uncle Matt's Juice

We want to give a special shout out to Uncle Matt’s Organic Juice and Lemonade just because it is delicious and the folks working their booth were super friendly! Congratulations also to Uncle Matt’s on their 15th Year of growing organic produce!

Eggland's Best Organic Eggs

I’m sure you are thinking that there is no way to improve on the perfection of the simple egg, but Eggland’s Best is here to gently prove you incorrect. Eggland’s Best are like “Super Eggs” in so many ways including the fact that each large egg has 25% less saturated fat, 10 times more Vitamin E and Double the Omega 3s of the average egg, to name but a few of its superior qualities. Plus, look how cute their Mascot is:

Crazy Adorable.

Eggland's Best Quiches

They also served these delicious little quiches in their booth. Mmm…mini quiche.

Everybody loves crunchy snacks that taste like fruit, am I right? Simply Choices offer a range of snacks including Bars, Chips and the Simply Protein Crunch you see pictured above, which is made with real fruit, has a popcorn-like texture and is a snack that makes you feel full because of its high whey protein content (Source: http://www.wellwisdom.com/ultimate-grass-fed-whey-protein/). Nature Made Vita Melts

We all know that we should take our vitamins, phytoceramides and supplements but no one likes taking them. I’ve been taking Nature Made VitaMelts Zinc tablets – which melt away under your tongue and taste like delicious lemony candy –  for a year and I’ve never had a cold since I started taking them, truth! At Editor Showcase I picked up samples of Nature Made’s two newest VitaMeltsHair*Skin*Nails with Biotin (which totally works, trust me) and a new MultiNature Made also comes in Gummy form for those who like something to chew.

I hope that you will be inspired to try out some of these brands I’ve reviewed in this post. Thanks to Formula PR once again for providing access to the show!
