Gail and Friends Celebrate Halloween!

Ben, Tracy and Gail are “The Desperate Housewives”!

Right now it’s about 70 degrees out on the streets of New York City, so it doesn’t feel much like Halloween. Though on my way home I did have to wade through a sea of ankle-biters and pre-schoolers all dressed-up like little Vampires and Pea-Pods on a mission to do some serious Trick or Treating at the neighborhood bodegas all along 14th Street, so that was kind of scary. Sandy West, drummer for the influential 70s band The Runaways, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 after a long battle with lung cancer.

She left an indelible mark on rock music as a founding member of The Runaways, which featured fellow rockers Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Cherie Currie, and as a leading inspiration for a number of notable musicians, both male and female. Many young musicians can trace their inspiration directly to the first time they heard “Cherry Bomb.”
