Happy Birthday, Paramahansa Yogananda!
Usually, when The ‘Gig gives a shout out to a birthday boy or girl, we try to lump all birthdays happening on the same day together in one post, to save space or whatever. But for reasons which should be obvious, we could not really lump Paramahansa Yogananda (Born January 5th, 1893) – author of Autobiography of a Yogi, founder of Self-Realization Fellowship, and the guy who taught Gandhi how to meditate – in with Marilyn Manson, Antichrist Superstar (Born January 5th, 1969). Because, no. Happy birthday, Paramahansaji!

Remembering Stiv Bators
Here at The Worley Gig, we have been reminiscing about our punk rock roots just lately, and so would like to pay a bit of tribute today to the late Stiv Bators (Dead Boys, Lords of The New Church) who was born on this day, October 22nd in 1949. Stiv (born Steven John Bator) died of an untreated concussion on June 4th in 1990 at the age of 40, after being hit by a taxi cab in Paris, France, where he was living at the time. Let us remember Stiv today with the playing of some of his very fine music that he left behind.
Happy Birthday to John Entwistle, John Lennon, and Others!!
John “The Ox” Entwistle, bassist for The Who and astounding musical genius, was born on this today, October 9th, in 1944. Of course, Entwistle is not the only massively-famous-but-dead rock star posthumously celebrating a birthday today. John Lennon (born in 1940) would have celebrated a birthday on today’s date had he not been assassinated by the psychotic Mark David Chapman in 1980. John Lennon’s son Sean also turns another year older today (Born 1975), and Al Jorgensen of Ministry (Born 1958) and a zillion other projects has lived for another year as today. Happy Birthday, guys!
