Israel’s Take On The Office Premiers at the Other Israel Film Festival

With NBC’s wildly popular sitcom, The Office, now in its eighth season, only those living under rocks would deny that what started out as a two season, twelve episode series on the BBC has become one of the most successful sitcom franchises in TV history. The Office has been adapted for TV in France, Brazil and Russia, and last year, Israel also got into the act. RIP Jack Kevorkian

Jack Kevorkian, a true America hero and compassionate human being, has passed away from complications of an underlying disease at the age of 83. “Evidently,” according to the obituary at the previous link, “his suffering never reached a level where he sought a way out, as did the terminally-ill patients he assisted throughout his controversial and storied career.” A few months ago I watched the fantastic HBO bio-pic about Kevorkian, You Don’t Know Jack, which earned Al Pacino an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Kevorkian, and it was SO GOOD! I recommend you add it to your Netflix Queue as soon as possible, as in right now! God speed you, Dr. Kevorkian. God speed you home.

Real Blood Is For Suckers

Have you seen the Tru•Blood marketing campaign yet? The poster above has adorned the side of a bus shelter on Avenue A and 14th Street for about the past month. I was so convinced that this was a real advertisement (I mean, I do live in the East Village, and I actually know a couple of, shall we say, eccentrics who claim to be “Vampires”) that I’ve been asking everyone if they’ve seen this drink in stores.
