September 24th is the Birth date of the late Jim Henson, best known for creating and voicing many of the beloved Muppet characters. Today, Google remembers what would have been Jim’s 75th Birthday with a very cool (and interactive) Home Page Doodle, seen above (Hint: click on the colorful “hand” buttons, from left to right, under each Muppet icon for a fun surprise). Are you watching Mad Men? Oh my god, it is the best show. I was a little late to the game on this one, but after attending an in-person taping of Saturday Night Live last fall, hosted by Mad Men star Jon “what a babe” Hamm, I was intrigued enough to add season one to my Netflix queue. Season two was released on DVD a few weeks ago and I’m presently just three episodes way from being all caught up – in plenty of time for season three to start on August 16th! I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. Indeed, everyone seems to be mad for Mad Men! In fact, Flavorwire has just posted this very clever pictorial, 10 Muppets and Their Mad Men Counterparts, “Because the preschool set needs more martinis.” Hee! Enjoy!
I have no idea what this video is about, but I just love it because Ricky Gervais is awesome, and everything Elmo the Muppet says is hilarious because, well, because he’s a puppet that talks like a mental patient. Hilarious.
