Drumkit Cake

I can’t believe that this is the first Drumkit Cake I’ve come across in my trek across the interwebs, and yet, it is so. It is easy to say that this cake, or cakes, as it were, could be improved by setting each “Drum” cake layer on a proper stand, thus setting it up as a more authentic-looking kit. Also, not to mention, but you can see I am about to, this set up is quite obviously two snares and a tom, which is just wrong. But I suppose that fortunate recipients of Drumkit Cakes cannot be choosers.

Google Buys the Zagat Guide

Show Me Where The Food Is

For all of my ceaseless efforts to find places to eat that are not my house, I was infused with joy earlier today to read that the Google has just purchased Zagat – the review company that rates not only restaurants but (less importantly) stores, hotels and other service providing establishments by surveying consumers.

Google’s Marissa Mayer, VP of local, maps and location services announced in This Blog Post that Google will “collaborate with Zagat to bring the power of Google search and Google Maps to their products and users, and to bring their innovation, trust and wealth of experience to our users.” It will be awesome to finally have the power of Zagat’s reccommendations available online since, in my experience, online access to specific review  information has been restricted because they want you to buy the annual print edition of their restaurant guide. How archaic! Now, if they could just keep my favorite eating establishments from going out of business.

Happy Birthday, Al Stewart!

Although Freddie Mercury gets to steal a lot of the Birthday thunder for September 5th, today is also the birthday of the great Al Stewart, who was born on this day in 1945. The video above is from a 1976 performance on the British TV show, The Old Grey Whistle Test, by Stewart and his band of the title cut from the album Year of The Cat, a phenomenal song from one of the best albums of the seventies. Enjoy, and Happy Birthday, Al!
