Everybody and his brother has a Kickstarter campaign these days, but on occasion, one of them catches my eye. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for The Cure, from the time of Three Imaginary Boys, even. So it’s understandable that I would be charmed by this fantastic, hand-crafted resin Bobblehead figure of Robert Smith, which represents the Cure front man at his most adorable.
Created by New York-based artist Derrick Cruz, Mr. Smith: Spinning on a Dizzy Edge is the 3rd and final chapter his Musical Muses Series. According to Cruz, this triptych is an idolatrous effort to immortalize the musicians who’s sincerity and courage helped him survive the 80’s as a teen. I’m sure many of us can relate.

For a $75.00 pledge, the first 100 backers will be guaranteed a handcrafted and painted Mr. Smith figure to be shipped by Christmas 2013, although the 7.25″ tall Robert Smith figure will be available in both painted and unpainted versions.
