Pink Thing of The Day: Nancy Pelosi Acton Figure in Pink Dress

nancy pelosi action figure pink

The folks at FCTRY, who’ve been turning cultural and political icons into action figures since 2008, are adding a gorgeous Nancy Pelosi Acton Figure to their already impressive line of progressive heroes that includes RBG, Biden, AOCSanders and Hillary (which I own) among many others. Nancy is seen here rocking a hot Pink Dress (earning her the honor of being a Pink Thing of The Day), accessorized  with sensible white pumps, while she carries a white gavel in one hand, and Dump’s hideous wig in another (though I believe that is just a photo prop)! Nancy’s incredible likeness was sculpted by Seattle-based artist Michael Leavitt, whose work you have seen on the blog many times. He is so talented! While FCTRY prepares Nancy’s Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for her series, you can help spread the word about this project and possibly earn a free action figure. To find out how to get a free Nancy Pelosi Action Figure, please click Here, then scroll down to the Quid Pro Quo section. Can’t wait to own this lovely and powerful lady!

Kickstarter Campaign: Mr. Smith, Spinning on a Dizzy Edge

Everybody and his brother has a Kickstarter campaign these days, but on occasion, one of them catches my eye. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for The Cure, from the time of Three Imaginary Boys, even. So it’s understandable that I would be charmed by this fantastic, hand-crafted resin Bobblehead figure of Robert Smith, which represents the Cure front man at his most adorable. KickStarter Campaign: Musician Brad Carter Fighting To Record an Album Before It’s Too Late!

Brad Carter Surgery
Brad Shown Playing Guitar During Recent Brain Surgery, Which, Sadly, Failed to Halt the Progression of His Disease.

Thanks to Leah Cevoli for telling me about this campaign:

“My name is Brad Carter. I am an actor, artist, occasional stand-up comedian and a guitarist from Macon, Georgia now living in Los Angeles, Ca. In the past few months I’ve had two surgeries on my brain to help me play guitar again. Maybe you saw it on the Today Show or your local news. I never knew any of that was going to happen. All I wanted was to be able to play guitar for a few years longer. I have a disease called Essential Tremor. This is a progressive neurological disease and there is no cure. My doctors think it could very well become Parkinson’s in the near future. I want to make the most of the time the surgery has given me by recording an album and sharing my story with you. Thank you for becoming a part of this Kickstarter project. It means the world to me.”

Please visit Brad’s Kickstarter page at This Link to watch Brad’s very moving video, to get more information on Brad and to donate to his very deserving campaign! Thank You!

Carol Lay Kickstarter Campaign: Murderville Comic Book!

Murderville Comic Carol Lay

American alternative cartoonist Carol Lay is best known for her weekly comic strip, Story Minute, which is a work of genius. I was a devoted reader and enthusiastic supporter of the Story Minute for years when it appeared in an alternative weekly paper here in the city that I eventually had to break up with because its publisher was too much of a right wing nut job, at which I point I lost track of Carol and her fantastic strip. But I digress.

The point is that Carol’s slightly twisted stories of life in very surreal times struck a chord with me, and I still have a couple of her Story Minutes tacked to a cork board in my office, where they continue to inspire me. Carol Lay, seriously, I worship her. Currently, Carol is running a Kickstarter campaign to fund a comic book she is creating called Murderville: A Farewell to Armories. It is crime story which she describes as The Sopranos Meets the Addams Family, and it looks just insane.  I can’t wait!

You can all read about the Murderville Kickstarter Campaign and see a fun video made by Carol, plus peruse all of the bitchen swag you can get in exchange for a few dollars of support At This Link. The campaign expires on Friday, June 21st, 2013 and she is about one-third of her way to a goal of $19,000. Please help Carol realize Murderville, because creative geniuses should always get what they need to make rad art. Good luck, Carol!

Midnight Mori
I Am Such a Sucker for a Skull with a Bow

I can’t tell you how many recovering Goths I know that also have an insane obsession Hello Kitty or Uglydolls. It’s weird how those two things sort of end up going together: Goths with a Cuteness Fixation. If you can relate to that, I’ve got your cuteness fix right here.
