This giant Pink Cherry Blossom glass tile mosaic is located at the 77th Street 6 Train subway station, on the mezzanine walls above the stairs leading to the train platform. It is part of a larger wall mural, by artist Robert Kushner, entitled 4 Seasons Seasoned, commissioned for the station in 2004. For the mosaics in this mural, Kushner created bouquets of flowers – from every season – that reflect such influences as Dutch flower paintings and Japanese screens. Geoffrey and I went all the way down town on a mission to investigate the Museum of Feelings, which turned out to be a bust, because the line was (realistic estimate) 90 minutes to 2 hours long. And we are about waiting in lines no. So, while we were down there (because Battery Park City is a fucking haul from our respective residences), we decided to just see what kinds of cool snaps we could take. Because Geoffrey is obsessed with the Instagram, and I know that I can always score a few blog hits with a fun photo.
Over the Columbus Day weekend, I went up to the Berkshire Mountains area of Massachusetts and spent a few glorious days enjoying the gorgeous natural surroundings and taking assloads of photos of the just-starting-to-turn fall leaves. Gorgeous! And since we are just getting into fall, and also close to Halloween, I not only saw a lot of Pumpkins but also stuff decorated like Jack O Lanterns. On the Saturday that fell over the Thanksgiving long weekend, Geoffrey and I had the bright idea that it would be a fine time to visit the Museum of Modern Art. By 2 or 3 in the afternoon, we felt sure that the crowds would have thinned out and we could just slip through the line and see some rad art. HAHA, how funny to have thought that, as we quickly discovered that the place was ridiculously mobbed and the lines were so endlessly long, that we had no choice but to bail on the idea of seeing any art that day. However, we decided to at least “take advantage” of the fact that we were actually in midtown, and perhaps do some window shopping and a bit of sightseeing.
