RIP Artist Richard Artschwager

American painter, illustrator and sculptor Richard Artschwager passed away on February 9th at the age of 89. I recently visited the Whitney Museum here in Manhattan and had the chance to see a retrospective of Artschwager’s work, which surprised me with its diversity and freshness.

The Beatles Perform on Ed Sullivan For The First Time

On This Date, February 9th In 1964: The Beatles made their American live debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, performing a five song set including the number one single that week, “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” The show had received more than 50,000 applications for the 728 seats in the studio.
