Video Clip of The Week: Skating Polly, “Hollywood Factory”

Here in NYC, it looks like we are going to go straight from Winter into Summer, and the warm (read: Hot) weather cannot come soon enough, I tell you. I love this week’s Video Clip, “Hollywood Factory” from the rad LA-based punk/pop trio Skating Polly because it reminds me of the endless summer that is life in Southern California. Sometimes I wonder why I ever left.

Filmed in various southland locations that include Hollywood Blvd, someone’s backyard pool, and a soundstage where you get to witness Skating Polly rocking out in all of their their glam punk glory, this vibrant take down of the Star Making Machine will appeal to fans of mixed- gender combos from Hole to Kenickie. Not to mention, but you can see I am about , drummer Kurtis Mayo is playing an Amber Vistalite kit, and we know who else played that same kit, don’t we?  Hint: he was in LED ZEPPELIN, bitches!

“Hollywood Factory” can be found on the Skating Polly’s forthcoming studio album The Make It All Show, due out May 4th, 2018 (aka Star Wars Day!) on El Camino Media. The album was produced by the legendary Brad Wood, who’s worked with everyone (Google him). Tour dates are below! Enjoy!

Slash Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Slash Star Walk of Fame

Grammy-winning, iconic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Slash marked a career milestone today, Tuesday, July 10th, 2012, as he was honored with his own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Slash’s star is located directly in front of the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd (6801 Hollywood Blvd, #105 Los Angeles, CA 90028). Slash’s friends — celebrated film producer Robert Evans, actor Charlie Sheen and beloved radio host Jim Ladd — were guest speakers at the fan-packed ceremony. Afterwards, Slash and bandmate Myles Kennedy treated fans to a private acoustic performance and exclusive Q&A at the Hard Rock Café Hollywood Blvd.

As a musician, artist, philanthropist, and iconic rock figure, Slash has amassed album sales nearing an astounding 100 million copies along with a Grammy Award and seven Grammy nominations, plus countless other accolades, accomplishments and acknowledgements, Time magazine named Slash #2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its “The Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All-Time.” Slash’s self-titled biography critically well-received, climbed the bestseller list in both the U.S. and U.K. hitting #8 on the NY Times Bestsellers list. Guitar Hero used Slash’s image and music, producing an installment that shattered previous gaming records while opening the floodgates to a whole new generation of fans.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The ConspiratorsMyles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass)–recently released their new album Apocalyptic Love (May 22, 2012). Apocalyptic Love stormed onto the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4, marking the top rock debut for that week. The disc also hit #1 Independent Albums Chart and #1 Hard Music Albums Chart. “You’re A Lie” the hard-driving first single off the new album is now #1 Active Rock, marking Slash’s first ever solo #1 hit at radio. All songs on Apocalyptic Love released on Slash’s own Dik Hayd International, and distributed through EMI Label Services were written together by Slash and Myles Kennedy as they spent the last two years on tour all over the world. Critical acclaim is pouring in for the album.

Revolver magazine declared “Apocalyptic Love is at heart a collection of lean, high-octane rock-and-roll tunes built to be blasted out of open-top sports cars or, more suitably, open-air stadiums” (July 2012). The Los Angeles Times added, “Fans of his work in GNR and Velvet Revolver will find much to embrace in the album’s 13 tracks, ranging from the sneering rock hooks of “You’re a Lie” and the heavy metal grind of “Halo” to the extended instrumental passages on “Anastasia.”” Elsewhere, Rolling Stone.com hailed “the album is filled with head bangers and plenty of fancy fretwork, most notably on standout tracks like “Hard and Fast” and “Standing in the Sun”’ (May 20, 2012). Slash and his band, including touring guitarist Frank Sidoris, will launch a summer headlining tour of the U.S. and Canada on July 12 in Portland, OR. They’ll follow that up with a full U.S. headlining tour starting September 4 in San Diego, CA and wrapping October 3 in Los Angeles, CA, Ticket information and tour dates are available at This Link.

Paul McCartney Gets a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Paul McCartney Gets a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Hollywood, Ca. February 10, 2012 – 50-plus years and counting of breaking boundaries and making history and Paul McCartney shows no sign of slowing. In a historic week in Los Angeles that began with the release of his brand new album Kisses On The Bottom (Hear Music/Concord) and will culminate in his appearance at the 54th annual Grammy Awards, Paul found time for two landmarks in one day on Thursday, February 9. First, in a ceremony that drew a traffic-stopping throng on Vine Street, Paul accepted his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After a heartfelt dedication from Neil Young, Paul’s star was unveiled in its rightful place next to those of fellow Beatles John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr (and in close proximity to Buddy Holly!).

Hours later, Paul performed the bulk of Kisses On The Bottom live from Capitol Studios streamed exclusively on iTunes. The once in a lifetime performance plus excerpts from the events of the day can be streamed on demand exclusively for a limited time on iTunes (iTunes.com/PaulMcCartney). Tonight Paul will receive the MusiCares Person Of The Year award for his contributions to the worlds of music and philanthropy. Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Tony Bennett, Norah Jones, Duane Eddy, Neil Young and many more will perform numbers from Paul’s unparalleled catalogue, with a finale featuring Paul himself.

Sunday night, February 12, Paul will conclude this incredible week with a climactic performance at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, where Paul McCartney & Wings’ Band On The Run is nominated in the Best Historical Album category.

And I must add that Paul must have recently undergone an additional assload of plastic surgery, because he looks fucking amazing.
