World on Fire, the new album by Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, which hits stores on September 17th will feature a brightly colored, collage design by Popaganda artist, Ron English.

English previously created the cover art for Slash’s self-titled solo album released in 2010 and he has also designed limited edition, collectible art toys inspired by the former GNR Guitarist, such as this Top Hat-Adorned Bust Sculpture. Very cool!

Slash Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame!

Slash Star Walk of Fame

Grammy-winning, iconic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Slash marked a career milestone today, Tuesday, July 10th, 2012, as he was honored with his own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Slash’s star is located directly in front of the Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd (6801 Hollywood Blvd, #105 Los Angeles, CA 90028). Slash’s friends — celebrated film producer Robert Evans, actor Charlie Sheen and beloved radio host Jim Ladd — were guest speakers at the fan-packed ceremony. Afterwards, Slash and bandmate Myles Kennedy treated fans to a private acoustic performance and exclusive Q&A at the Hard Rock Café Hollywood Blvd.

As a musician, artist, philanthropist, and iconic rock figure, Slash has amassed album sales nearing an astounding 100 million copies along with a Grammy Award and seven Grammy nominations, plus countless other accolades, accomplishments and acknowledgements, Time magazine named Slash #2, behind Jimi Hendrix, on its “The Ten Best Electric Guitar Players of All-Time.” Slash’s self-titled biography critically well-received, climbed the bestseller list in both the U.S. and U.K. hitting #8 on the NY Times Bestsellers list. Guitar Hero used Slash’s image and music, producing an installment that shattered previous gaming records while opening the floodgates to a whole new generation of fans.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The ConspiratorsMyles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass)–recently released their new album Apocalyptic Love (May 22, 2012). Apocalyptic Love stormed onto the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4, marking the top rock debut for that week. The disc also hit #1 Independent Albums Chart and #1 Hard Music Albums Chart. “You’re A Lie” the hard-driving first single off the new album is now #1 Active Rock, marking Slash’s first ever solo #1 hit at radio. All songs on Apocalyptic Love released on Slash’s own Dik Hayd International, and distributed through EMI Label Services were written together by Slash and Myles Kennedy as they spent the last two years on tour all over the world. Critical acclaim is pouring in for the album.

Revolver magazine declared “Apocalyptic Love is at heart a collection of lean, high-octane rock-and-roll tunes built to be blasted out of open-top sports cars or, more suitably, open-air stadiums” (July 2012). The Los Angeles Times added, “Fans of his work in GNR and Velvet Revolver will find much to embrace in the album’s 13 tracks, ranging from the sneering rock hooks of “You’re a Lie” and the heavy metal grind of “Halo” to the extended instrumental passages on “Anastasia.”” Elsewhere, Rolling Stone.com hailed “the album is filled with head bangers and plenty of fancy fretwork, most notably on standout tracks like “Hard and Fast” and “Standing in the Sun”’ (May 20, 2012). Slash and his band, including touring guitarist Frank Sidoris, will launch a summer headlining tour of the U.S. and Canada on July 12 in Portland, OR. They’ll follow that up with a full U.S. headlining tour starting September 4 in San Diego, CA and wrapping October 3 in Los Angeles, CA, Ticket information and tour dates are available at This Link.

RIP Marshall Amps Founder Jim Marshall

Dr. James Marshall, who revolutionized the music industry as the founder of Marshall Amplification, has passed away on April 5th, 2012 at the age of 88. Fondly referred to as the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock,’ a nice remembrance of Jim’s life and achievements in music can be found at This Link.

Guitarist Slash, who had a long professional relationship as well as personal friendship with Marshall offered this statement:

“I consider myself very fortunate to have known the late Jim Marshall. He was such a fantastic individual. Not only did he create the loudest, most effective, brilliant-sounding Rock & Roll amplifier ever designed, but he was a caring, hardworking family man who remained true to his integrity to the very end. His work ethic was unequaled and his passion unrivaled. He took great care of me personally, as one of his loyal fans and Marshall Amp enthusiasts, ever since we first met in the early 90’s. At that time, he did the unprecedented; he had the first-ever Artist Model Marshall series designed for me when my Marshall amps were destroyed in a Guns N Roses concert riot in St. Louis in 1991. We had been friends ever since.

Jim cared for all his customers like they were his family. He would do whatever it took to make sure an artist was completely satisfied and he made sure his staff did likewise. It was very important to him that Marshall quality and customer care was paramount. Jim’s passing marks the end of a very loud and colorful era. From Pete Townshend to Kerry King, Marshall Amplifiers have been behind every great Rock & Roll guitarist since the beginning. Marshall Amplification is one of the most enduring, iconic brands of contemporary music history. This industry will likely never see the likes of Jim again. But his legacy will live on forever.”

Slash Refuses to Allow Guns N’ Roses Music to be used on Glee

From Rollingstone.com

Slash has told Entertainment Weekly that he rejected a request from the producers of Glee to use Guns N’ Roses music in an episode of the series. His reasoning was pretty simple: He thinks the hit show is horrible. “Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough,” he told EW. “I look at Grease now and think, ‘Between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a work of art.'” So Slash is definitely not a fan of squeaky-clean singing teens. I’ve been a huge fan of Slash up until this moment and now…I just love him even more. Go Slash.

Happy Birthday, Scott Weiland!

Scott and Slash Dance With Mr. Brownstone

Professional Bad Boy of Rock, Scott Weiland, also famous for being the vocalist for Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots, has managed to stay alive long enough to turn another year older, having been born on October 27, 1967. Guns N’ Roses Release Appetite for Destruction

Appetite Cover
“My Way, Your Way, Anything Goes Tonight.”

On this Date, July 21st in 1987: Guns N’ Roses released their landmark debut album Appetite for Destruction, which would later spend five weeks on top of the Billboard 200 album chart. As of September 2008 the album is certified 18 times platinum. The band Guns N’ Roses in their original line-up – Axl, Slash, Duff, Steven and Izzy – were inarguable the greatest hard rock band of that era. The fact that Axl Rose could and would willingly destroy that band is proof enough to me that the man is mentally ill. You can read my interview with original GNR guitarist Slash from February 2001 at This Link.
