Breaking Bad fans will flip over this slightly singed, one-eyed pink Teddy Bear Cake, which any avid viewer of the show will recognize as a reoccurring thematic prop from season two and the key object that fell from the crashed plane into Walter White’s swimming pool. Created by Redditor Hollyicing, details of the cake are below:
It’s a variation of a madeira cake that’s lemon and passion fruit flavour with passion fruit butter icing and stacked using home made passion fruit and lemon jam. Three layers were stacked, then sculped into before I did a crumb layer of icing and then piped the butter icing on top. The eye ball was going to be a gob stopper but I couldn’t get a plain white one in the right size so lumped for a ball of white marzipan. The whole thing was splashed with black food dye and then burnt a bit to give it that burnt bear look (and also because I like burning things).
On This Date, March 19th in 1982: Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist Randy Rhoads died in a plane crash in Leesburg, FL when the plane crashed into Osbourne’s tour bus. The pilot Andrew Aycock – who caused the crash by trying to “buzz” the top of the bus as a prank – and hairdresser Rachel Youngblood were also killed. Rhoads was 25 years old.
Free guitarist Paul Kossoff also died on this day in 1976, also at age 25, after suffering a drug-related heart attack while on a flight to Los Angeles. RIP to two great young talents lost way too soon.
Before the Modern Drummer Festival even kicked off today we heard the very alarming news that former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, and Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ AM, had been critically injured in a plane crash that killed four other people. Everyone knows that The Worley Gig is a huge fan of all drummers, so we are saying our prayers here for Travis’s speedy recovery.
