Photographer Glen Scot, who lives in the UK, snapped this photo of a Guitar shop storefront that quite literally advertises what they sell. Brilliant! And the pots go to Eleven!

Rad Video of the Day: Fan Made Trader Joe’s Commercial!
When Trader Joe’s opened its first store in Manhattan it completely changed my life, and it is still the primary grocery store in which I shop, even when it means I must stand in a line that snakes all the way through the store and back to the entrance. It’s always worth it. If you feel similarly, please enjoy this fan-made video with an accompanying original song about all of the many items that make this store incomparably special. Trader Joe’s Forever!

Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part One
Bowl of Smiley Face Fried Potatos. I Would Eat Them.
I consider myself to be a happy person with a (mostly) positive attitude about life. But the truth is, when you write a blog, it is much funnier to complain and rag on shit constantly. And it is much, much easier to make hilarious, mean spirited jokes when you are talking about how much something sucks. But today I am having a really good day. Here is a Top Ten List of random stuff that has put me in a good mood just at this moment. Continue reading Reasons to Be Cheerful, Part One
The Origin of the Species: Ten Illustrated Versions
2009 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin’s most famous work On the Origin of Species (published 24 November 1859). Plus, Thursday (2/12) would have been his 200th birthday. The New York Times’ science section published this article on Tuesday, and I have even been invited to weird FaceBook events honoring both this controversial book and Darwin’s anniversary of birth . Of course, I can’t even think of the book’s title without also being reflexively thrown to thoughts of Type O Negative’s infamous live CD, The Origin of The Feces, but that is a different story. Keeping it on a lighter note, Listicles looks at the evolution of the most familiar graphic shorthand for Darwin’s entire theory with their 10 Illustrated Versions of Evolution, including the Evolution of Lego Man, seen above.

The Vader Project Arrives at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh
I am not a huge a Star Wars fan, but if this exhibit came to NYC I would be there to check it out in two seconds. The Vader Project is a jaw dropping collection of 100 Darth Vader Helmets re-imagined by some of today’s hottest underground and pop surrealist painters, artists and designers. Here’s bit more information from the Vader Project Website. “The Vader Project is curated by Dov Kelemer & Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys. Kelemer and Marks gathered 100 contemporary artists. Each artist was given a 1:1 scale authentic prop replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in the STAR WARS™ films. Each helmet served as a blank slate for each artist to paint, design, mash up and customize.
Featuring work by Shag, Peter Kuper, Attaboy, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Dalek, Paul Frank, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Michelle Valigura, Frank Kozik, Wade Lageose, Joe Ledbetter, Alex Pardee, Suckadelic, Cameron Tiede, Mister Cartoon, Marc Ecko, Amanda Visell and many more, The Vader Project provided an opportunity for artists to use one of the most iconic pop culture characters in film history as their canvas.”
While the project has been around since May 2007, the collection makes its museum premiere at The Andy Warhol and will be on display from February 13 to May 3, 2009. Check out a really cool Slideshow here.
