2010 CANstruction Exhibit Now on View at NYC’s Brookfield Place

For all fans of art and also those fascinated with architecture and design, the annual Canstruction exhibit is a must see. Canstruction, Inc. is a nonprofit organization – and the most unique food charity in the world – that holds annual design and build competitions among those in the architecture and design field where the challenge is to construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food. After the structures are built, with the winners in each city chosen, the “canstructions” go on view to the general public as a unique and cohesive art exhibit. This year, 25 amazing sculptures are on view in the Brookfield Place mall located in the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan.

At the close of the competition, all of the food used in the structures will be donated to local food banks for distribution to community emergency feeding programs. In this way, not only the participating Architects, engineers, designers, contractors and students contribute, but the local community also participates to raise canned food donations.  More information on Canstruction is available by visiting Canstruction Dot Org at This Link. Canstruction will be on display in the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden from 10AM to 7PM daily through November 21 and until 5PM November 22. Admission is free, with the suggested donation being a can of food.
