A highlight of my visit to London last month was a day spent at the Design Museum for Barbie: The Exhibition, a design-focused Barbie-completist wonderland that was absolutely mind-blowing. That’s where I saw these tiny pink chairs that I knew I must somehow own. Let’s find out more about how the chairs came to be!

Currently, the Barbie brand aesthetic focuses on streamlined contemporary design, which reflects the 20 century revival of interest in midcentury modern interiors.  In this context, Milan- based design house Kartell created a limited-edition, Barbie-sized series of its best-selling iconic chairs, all designed by Philippe Starck, and finished in Barbie’s own unique shade of pink, Pantone 219 C.
