At the end of a very exciting week that included indulgent gourmet foodie events and a Rolling Stone Magazine-sponsored concert featuring cool bands like The Sheep Dogs and Cake, we rounded out the week in fitting scenester style at a party for designer Andy Hilfiger’s Andrew Charles line of ready-to wear-Rock ‘n Roll clothing, now on display/for sale at pop-up store Riff, located at 313 Bowery in the space formerly occupied by the Morrison Hotel Gallery. Happy 61st Birthday, Steven Tyler!

Tyler with Liv’s Baby-Mama Bebe Buell, 1970-something or Other

Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler was born on this date, March 26th, in 1948. Jesus God, I can easily remember all the way back to the late ’70s, when Aerosmith were recording fantastic-sounding and borderline-dangerous albums like Rocks instead of bullshit crap pop songs written by Desmond Child, and I actually thought Steven Tyler was cool. “Walking on Gucci Wearing Yves Saint Laurent”

RIP Yves Saint Laurent

Fashion Designer legend Yves Saint Laurent passed away in Paris over the weekend (6/1/2008) at age 71. God knows I never wore any of his designs nor did I carry one of the many YSL knockoff handbags available for purchase every five feet along Canal Street. But I do recall that Aerosmith name-checked him in a song called “Combination” off Rocks…which is one of their better albums from the ’70s. RIP YSL.
