Guns N’ Roses Release Appetite for Destruction
“My Way, Your Way, Anything Goes Tonight.”
On this Date, July 21st in 1987: Guns N’ Roses released their landmark debut album Appetite for Destruction, which would later spend five weeks on top of the Billboard 200 album chart. As of September 2008 the album is certified 18 times platinum. The band Guns N’ Roses in their original line-up – Axl, Slash, Duff, Steven and Izzy – were inarguable the greatest hard rock band of that era. The fact that Axl Rose could and would willingly destroy that band is proof enough to me that the man is mentally ill. Can Somebody say “Axl Rose Publicity Stunt”?
According to This story from the LA Times, Kevin Cogill, a 27-year-old blogger suspected of streaming songs on his Web site allegedly from the unreleased, ten-years-plus-in-the-making Guns N’ Roses album, Chinese Democracy was arrested Wednesday (8/27). Somehow, this non-story has made national news overnight, so I can’t help but suspect that this might be just another one of eccentric douchebag Axl Rose’s desperate machinations designed to keep him and his band of posers in the public eye while he wanks away on an album that any sane person realizes will never see the light of day. Yawn city.
