Mona Hatoum’s Deep Throat (1996) offers an interior view of her  body as an object to be consumed. The artist inventively edited her endoscopy and colonoscopy footage to appear as if we are traveling through her digestive tract, from teeth to anus and back again. “I wanted the work to be about the body probed, invaded, violated, deconstructed,” said Hatoum, who, like all of us, lives in a technologically advanced society, where the loss of personal privacy is widely tolerated. Affordable Gourmet Lunch Spot Metro Marché Opens in Midtown

Since my day gig moved offices from Wall Street to Columbus Circle, one of the best perks  — besides a close proximity to Central Park — is a huge increase in nearby lunch destinations. Just recently, I added a new place to my cache of favorites: Metro Marché, which just opened in March. I’ve already eaten there twice and I would advise you to forget any local deli, pizza place, or overhyped garbage like Sweet Green, because the food at Metro Marché is just insane.

Here’s another one of my favorite Dining By Design Installations from this year’s DIFFA event, which features carefully curated dining vignettes that raise awareness for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS. Gensler New York’s 2019 design concept, titled You Are Beautiful, served as a celebratory reminder to all those individuals living with HIV/AIDS that they are Beautiful, both inside and out, they deserve enduring happiness, and, most importantly, they are not alone in their fight.
