Tucked along Lafayette Street between Canal and Howard, this striking mural pays tribute to Spanish poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, whose brief but transformative stay in New York City in 1929–30 inspired his landmark work Poet in New York.

So, I got my feet wet, quite literally, by spending a couple hours tonight at #animenyc and checking out all the beautiful sites. Here’s a photo dump for you and I’m sure more will be coming because I’m definitely going to have to go back Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately, I blew my knee out completely walking for just two hours on the hard cement so I will not be having a while spree, but rather possibly just a few more hours with a lot of sitting in between the steps. It was extra fun to be hobbling in a torrential downpour when leaving the Javits center, which soaked me to the literal underpants. All in all a fun time. #anime #toys #cosplay #nerds @animenyc

The art world lost a true original on August 14, when artist @maryheilmannstudio died at the age of 86. Heilmann was celebrated for her colorful, playful paintings and sculptures, but she also had a wonderful way of bringing art into everyday life — and these colorful chairs at the @whitneymuseum are a perfect example. Heilmann created the chairs as part of #Sunset, her site-specific installation for the Whitney’s new downtown building in 2015. Scattered across the museum’s outdoor terraces, the brightly colored chairs were designed not simply to be looked at, but to be sat in, enjoyed and shared. Rest in peace. #MaryHeilmann #WhitneyMuseum  #WomenInArt #seatingdesign
