Pearl River Mart Reopens in TriBeCa!
Finally, there’s bright spot on this dismal end of year season. Pearl River Mart, everyone’s favorite Asian Imports Store, has reopened as a Pop-Up at 395 Broadway. Oh, Happy Day. This space will become the store’s permanent location after a brief shuttering in February 2017 to allow for further construction on the interior.
I made an excited initial visit to the new store and can report that, while it is now much smaller than its previous 30,000 SF, multi-level home, this new space has many of the items you love to peruse, shop for, and give as gifts including ceramics and tableware, tea sets, slippers, brocade satin purses and novelty tote bags, trinkets, cosmetics and of course incense and tiny statuary.
This photo was taken from an upstairs loft, looking from the back of the store toward the front, and will give you an idea of the layout.
It is so exciting and comforting to have Pearl River back in business. Welcome Back!
Pearl River Mart is Located at 395 Broadway, Two Blocks Below Canal Street in Tribeca/Chinatown, NYC. Check Out More Pearl Rover Merchandise Below!

Mural of a Guy Who Could Be Caesar Chavez in Chinatown
This mural depicting what appears to be the likeness of Union leader and labor organizer Caesar Chavez can be found on a building located on Layette Street between Canal and Howard.
However, despite the close resemblance to Chavez, the group of musicians clearly visible above his head makes me think that this man might actually be a famous musician. Sadly, I could find nothing about this mural on the Google, believe it or not.

A Study in Yellow
There aren’t too many more weeks (days, even) left in the fall season that we’ll be seeing brightly colored trees like this; at least not here in the City. What I love most about the yellow-leafed tree is the way its color is set-off by the yellow School Crossing Ahead sign, and the three (count ’em!) yellow NYC Taxi’s parked at the adjacent curb. When have you seen three parked taxis all in a row like that?
Photographed in Chinatown, November 2014.
Fashionable Child’s Spring Outfit
We’re not feeling the spring weather quite yet, but once it warms up a bit, I think any hip five year old girl would love to rock this Biggie Smalls T-Shirt paired with a White Tulle Tutu and accessorized with a novelty Ice Cream Cone Pendent. I wish this outfit came in my size, is all I’m sayin’. Available at Piccolini NYC on Mott Street.
