A few months back, I found myself in Staten Island for an art show and decided to squeeze in a little window shopping on my way back to the ferry. That’s when I wandered into a gift shop so heavily decorated for Pride that I thought I’d stepped into a rainbow vortex — in the best possible way. Front and center was what I can only describe as a Pride-themed Christmas Tree, and honestly, it might be one of the most joyful things I’ve ever seen. This year, Marvel Comics will kick off Pride Month with its annual Marvel’s Voices: Pride anthology one-shot, titled X-MEN: The Wedding Special #1, followed by an all-new series of Pride variant covers. On sale throughout June, this year’s Pride variant covers were drawn by two of the industry’s most promising talent: Betsy Cola and Davi Go. Across eight stunning covers on Marvel’s hottest titles, celebrate LGBTQIA+ heroes from throughout the Marvel Universe, including members of the Avengers, the X-Men, and more.

Here’s another awesome Holiday Gift Idea for the art lover on your list who also happens to be a fan of David Bowie or Prince. Pay homage to Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie’s iconic persona from the early 1970s, or the late great Prince, with this modern take on Japanese Kokeshi dolls, which are customarily given as symbols of friendship. Each doll measures, 5.7 inches tall, is hand painted in vibrant colors, and is made of schima superba wood. Imagine the adventure these two could have together.

The Vienna, Austria-based artist known as Nychos has many admirable qualities: mad talent, an appreciation for his fans, and an uncanny resemblance to Mexican actor / heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal. It was certainly a pleasure to meet him, look at his fun art and gaze into his face at the reception for his new series of deconstructed Pop Art portraits, IKONS — which opened at Jonathan LeVine over Pride Weekend.
