I spotted this glowing message projected on a brick wall outside Stuyvesant Town, and it really hit home: “It is not happy people who are thankful; it is thankful people who are happy.” Such a beautiful reminder to appreciate the good that’s already around us. Wishing everyone a cozy, peaceful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, good food, and people you love.

I apologize in advance for not making it to Tony Oursler’s mAcHiNe E.L.F. exhibit at Lehmann Maupin Gallery until March 24th, the day before it closed. If you didn’t see it, and you’re reading this now, I’m afraid you’re going to have to live through me. In this review I am focusing solely on the video installation portion of the exhibit, the Crystal Forest — a mesmerizing multimedia head trip that liberates video from a traditional two-dimensional format and brings it into the realm of sculpture to create a truly immersive experience. Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King
While Dr. Martin Luther King’s actual birthday was January 15th, the US honors and remembers him on the third Monday in January for a Federal Holiday known as Martin Luther King Day. It is the only such holiday that honors an Africa-American. We need to change that. Please celebrate the work of Dr. King today by being kind to your neighbor, whatever that means to you. One of MLK‘s best known quotes was projected on an apartment building at 14th Street and First Avenue over the past week and I stopped to take this photograph so that I could share it here.
The Weeknd’s Face Projected on the Side of a Building
Traveling home from Coney Island late Friday night, I decided to get off the F Train at Second Avenue and Houston Street and walk the rest of the way home. It was an absolutely gorgeous, late summer evening and there won’t be too many more of those at this point, before the seasons change, and I want to enjoy it while it lasts.
