Pop Culture-themed Tile Mosaics by the French Street Artist known as Invader can be found all over the city, if you know to look up, and aren’t always staring at your fucking phone.

Spiderman Tile Mosaic

This one of a diminutive Spiderman, captured in the process of scaling the side of a building, adorns the front façade of what used to be a bank, located on the southwest corner of 2nd Avenue and St. Marks Place in NYCs east village. I believe it has been there since late 2015.

There’s cheap but reliable BBQ restaurant just across the street. And just around the corner to the right, you’ll see these familiar buildings.

While you can’t really help but notice this colorful wall at the entrance to the F Subway Line at Second Avenue and Houston Street, it takes a keen eye to spot the many street artist and taggers represented in this confined space. Aside from the large Skull and Demon Mural (not sure who the artist is, clues left in the comments are appreciated) displayed on the southern exposure of the Avalon Chemists building, we noticed the following: Continue reading Street Art Wall at the Second Avenue F Train Subway Stop

The Weeknd’s Face Projected on the Side of a Building

Traveling home from Coney Island late Friday night, I decided to get off the F Train at Second Avenue and Houston Street and walk the rest of the way home. It was an absolutely gorgeous, late summer evening and there won’t be too many more of those at this point, before the seasons change, and I want to enjoy it while it lasts.

Emerge: An Ode to Dedication Mural – Pioneer Square, Seattle

Undersea Mural2

You can tell so much about a city from its Street Art. When I was vacationing in Seattle this past July, I photographed this very colorful undersea life mural in the city’s Pioneer Square neighborhood. With a little bit of Googling, I was able to uncover the below information on the mural at This Link:

“The 100 foot long and 17 foot tall mural Emerge: An ode to Dedication covers the east side of the currently abandoned Metropole building in Pioneer Square, located at the corner of Yesler Way and 2nd Avenue. The building was damaged by a fire in 2007. In 2010, the artist Jeff Jacobson created the mural on plywood covering the side of the building. His goal was to create something beautiful to look at and draw attention to the building. According to [a video interview with] Jacobson, where he describes the mural’s underwater scene, the salmon represent artists rising to and breaking through the surface of the water.”
