Something we learned very quickly while visiting the Danish city of Copenhagen in early June is that people like to Ride Bikes there. Thirty-Six percent of the population commutes to work a bike, and they are just fucking everywhere, so you had better watch out! It is insane, and yet, not insane, because it saves gas and is better for you and the environment. I took this photo of nice Pink Bike while my sister and I took shelter from a thunder storm on our way to see some sites. Copenhagen is an awesome city and I would go back for another visit in a heartbeat.
When I first moved to New York City about 20 years ago, I didn’t know many people, and so I spent a lot of time by myself, exploring my East Village neighborhood, and just people watching. On Sunday afternoons, I used to enjoy sitting at a window table at the late, great 7A Restaurant, having a cheap, boozy brunch while watching the parade of tattooed rockers and rock star wannabes that would pass me by on their way to their mid-afternoon adventures. It’s true what they say that some of the best forms of entertainment are totally free.
This week we break from tradition a bit by, rather than featuring a new video clip, reaching back into the archives for a clip from Christmas 2007, from the late, great UK band, Kula Shaker. We discovered the fantastic clip, “Drink Tea (For the Love of God)” while effing around with friends on You Tube at 3 O’clock in the morning a few Saturdays ago. This anthemic song brings a pro-brewed tea drinking message to Monty Python-esque animation, and Kula Shaker’s signature psychedelic rock feel. Enjoy! And have some tea!
