What is art? That’s not an easy question to answer, and art critics and artists have been debating the topic for a long time. For instance, when photography first emerged, people said it was not an art form. The same happened with film, and with readymade objects like Duchamp’s classic Fountain, which was simply a signed urinal. Over the years, many have suggested that anything can be art when an artist calls it art or it is displayed in a gallery. Since the 1980s, there has been a new debate: are video games art? As you would expect, many people claim that video games are indeed an art form while many others vehemently refute that video games can be art.

New York Gallery Tours Offers Interactive And Fun Hugest Variety of Digital Arts Tour Via Zoom!

Just in time for summer, NYC is opening up to in-person cultural events and experiences a bit more each day. Even art fairs such as Frieze and the Affordable Art Fair have successfully returned, which is great news for art fans! I’ve written previously about the very fun New York Gallery Tours, where local art historian Rafael Risemberg offers small group tours in NYC’s popular Chelsea gallery district, and I’m happy to announce that those tours will expand in size as galleries increase the number of visitors allowed inside their spaces at one time. But for those who aren’t able to get out just yet, and to accommodate folks located outside of NYC who still crave an interactive art experience, Rafael offers his virtual Digital Arts tours, which are streamed live via Zoom. Best of all: there are no Covid restrictions!
Sweetwater and Gibson Report Theft of Limited-Edition Gibson Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst Guitars
On October 30, 2020, a pallet of new Gibson Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst Guitars was stolen from a Sweetwater Music truck at the Flying J Travel Center in Whiteland, IN. The truck was en route to Fort Wayne, IN, the headquarters of Sweetwater Sound. “Somehow out of a truck full of guitars, this one pallet was singled out and stolen at a truck stop,” says Sweetwater Chief Supply Chain and Merchandising Officer Phil Rich. Totaling close to $95,000 in guitars, Rich believes that the perpetrator(s) knew exactly what to look for and when.

Yeah I know, I haven’t posted a Video Clip of The Week since before the start of Covid, and that was another lifetime ago. I admit I have not been listening to any new music, because I’m just not feeling it. But with the election coming up, and the stakes being as high as they are, I have started to revisit music that has influenced me deeply; particularly where the lyrics resonate with the current state of our society and our world. One of the classic songs that I just can’t shake free from my brain is “For What It’s Worth” written by Stephen Stills in 1966, and recorded by his band at the time, Buffalo Springfield. If you aren’t familiar with the song, take a look at the lyrics:

Yeah, heavy. It’s probably no coincidence then that musicians of a certain age are also feeling this song, and why The Wyld Olde Souls are back after a long hiatus with a faithful cover of “For What It’s Worth” that’s as relevant as ever in tumultuous 2020.
