I just love this thing.

Now that we’re in the midst of crazy Winter Storm Action here in NYC, looking at this snow-themed window display of camper-mannequins toasting marshmallows over a fake camp fire actually makes me feel warm. I forgot to pay attention to the name of whatever store this fun display is part of, but it’s on Broadway above Canal Street, perhaps between Grand and Prince. Happy Hunting.

Christmas Things That Are Merry and Bright: Midtown, Manhattan

It is no secret among residents of NYC that the worst possible place to be in the City — besides Times Square, really, ever — is in the midst of midtown sidewalk shopping traffic during the Holiday Season. Seriously, you might as well just kill yourself. But if you happen to find yourself in that area at this time of year, do fight your way to the Avenue-facing display windows of Saks Fifth Avenue Department Store, because you might see something super cool, like this scene from Snow White, where the Wicked Queen tempts Snow with the Poison Apple. And we all know how that turned out.

On the way from one event to another this past week, we passed by the Mave Hotel, located on Madison Avenue at the corner of 27th Street, and were instantly attracted to this display of inflated red and white balloons they have strewn across the floor in an inaccessible part of the hotel lobby, just off the main entrance from the street. Charming!
