If you’ve got a spare $100 burning a hole in your picket, and have never had Afternoon Tea at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan, then you need to check that off your bucket list, because the experience is sublime. But if you find yourself at the Plaza for any reason at all, be sure to wander up to the Rose Club, which is the bar / jazz club on the mezzanine level just off the lobby, so you can check out the rad ceiling lighting!

Maybe have a drink and a snack while you’re there, so you have more time to take in the ambiance.

Among the many cool artworks to be found at the Crosby Street Hotel, located at 79 Crosby Street in Soho, NYC is this striking, 10 foot high Jaume Plensa steel sculpture of a human head created from letters of the alphabet. The unique sculpture sits in the hotel’s front lobby, along with this very fun Pug Lamp.

I love a happy accident, which is what I have to call my discovery of this fun new exhibit by artist John Monti, which I spotted in the 42nd Street Lobby of The Grace Building as I walked past on the way to the F Train.

The installation, which is made up of seven amorphous-shaped bright Red and Lime Green sculptures,  is called Beauties and it actually opens with a reception on Thursday, September 15th from 6 – 8 PM, which means there will probably be free wine!

Neon Google Doodle, Headquarters Lobby, NYC

Jamie and I were walking down Ninth Avenue towards 14th Street to catch the bus after having a fun time at the opening party for Chris Stein’s new exhibit of Debbie Harry Photos, which was held at the fabulous Dream Hotel on West 16th Street, when we passed  by the headquarters of the Google. I was, of course, immediately attracted by their huge Neon Google Doodle sign on the wall of the building’s lobby, which I was able to shoot through the locked revolving doors with a little adjustment of the camera lens. Very Nice.

Hilariously, just a few feet down the road, we saw the neon sign pictured below, which I discovered (via Google – Ha!) is by Lower East Side icon Clayton Patterson. Apparently, “Elgoog” is a thing, but I don’t feel like going into that right now.
