Here at ‘The Gig, we are having a bit of a Spring Fling, as NYC transitions from one cold, wet season to a different but almost equally cold, wet season! Why is spring in this part of the country so freaking cold? I am already over it, as the kids say! As I do whatever I can to keep the fantasy of warmer weather alive in my head, please enjoy this week’s Pink Thing: a sculpture of Winnie The Pooh’s best pal of Piglet made entirely of beautiful pink floral blooms! I took this photo at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida one hot summer longer ago than I can remember.
Mr. OneTeas Wack Donalds-ized version of Yoda and Winnie the Pooh were found still clinging to the exterior of the former Germania Bank located at 190 Bowery (Corner of Spring Street), which was the private residence of photographer Jay Maisel for the past 5 decades before being sold to developer Aby Rosen, despite claims that the building had been Buffed of its Graffiti, in preparation for being turned into the World’s Largest Starbucks.
This little crocheted Pink Piglet Outfit seems wasted on such small baby (which in this case appears to actually be a doll), but it would certainly not be as cute in an adult size.
I spotted this drawing on the wall at Sacred Tattoo and was immediately charmed / repulsed by its depiction of the lovable Winnie the Pooh characters morphed into the Cenobites from the Hellraiser film series (based on characters created by the great Clive Barker). Very Clever! I was able to find variations of this drawing on the Internet but couldn’t find an artist’s name, so it f anyone knows who created this please leave it in the comments so I can give him credit.
And…it’s a tattoo as well! (Image Source)
