Do you like Dips? I sure do. Chips and Dip is a tasty and addictive snack that’s hard to resist. The thing is, you might be snacking more sensibly these days, and looking to avoid extra fats like sour cream or mayonnaise, which are the base for most dip recipes. That’s why it’s so cool to have a healthier, low fat alternative in the nut-based dips from Bitchin’ Sauce.
I was first introduced to Bitchin’ Sauce, a super tasty, all-natural dip made from California almonds, back in 2015 when my friend Sue discovered it at a party. She sent me photos of the label — because we both grew up in Southern California in the ’70s, and she thought the name was hilarious — which ended up on the website here! All these years later, the Bitchin’ Sauce brand is thriving, which is great to know, because it is delicious.
For the uninitiated, Bitchin’ Sauce was founded by husband and wife duo Starr and Luke “L.A.” Edwards, who single-handedly pioneered the nut-based dip category. The couple started small, initially only selling their almond-based dips in the farmers markets around San Diego. Today, Bitchin’ Sauce dips are available in stores worldwide. Great success!
Bitchin’ Sauce offers a variety of savory flavors that is mind blowing: Roasted Green Chile and Pepita, Cilantro Chili, Hatch Chile, Chipotle, Heat, Green Onion, Pesto, Bombay, Buffalo, Caramelized Onion, Spinach and Artichoke, Dill Pickle, and last but not least, Original flavor. There are even sweet dips like Pumpkin Pie, and Chocolate, so there is truly something for everyone!
While all of the above flavors taste exactly like their names, Original Bitchin’ Sauce features a creamy texture and savory lemon and garlic flavor: a simple blend of almonds, real herbs and spices– not much else! All flavors of Bitchin’ Sauce are gluten-free, vegan, and Non-GMO certified!
Now, maybe you’re a single person who doesn’t necessarily eat a lot of chips and dips at home and would be challenged to eat an entire tub of dip in a timely manner, or perhaps you don’t go to a lot of parties either, which is where dips are normally served. I feel you on this, but here’s where I am point out that there are so many things you can do with Bitchin’ Sauce, besides eating it as a dip with chips, or serving it at a party — though I will get to that. Obviously, one of this product’s most versatile uses is right in the name. Bitchin’ Sauce makes a fantastic sauce or topping for so many savory foods.
Say your family likes to have a weekly Taco Tuesday: you may not realize that Cilantro Chili Bitchin’ Sauce‘ makes a fantastic topping for tacos, burritos and chips. Seriously, it is insane.
For Single Ladies Burrito Night (a tradition in my apartment) the effortless addition of the tangy, fresh Bitchin’ Sauce elevated a simple Trader Joe’s burrito to an exciting Mexican fiesta! Likewise, the Pesto flavor can transform any hot pasta into a tasty and impressive Italian meal for you and a guest in just minutes (ask me how I know). You can try these ideas at home and take the credit for being an exceptionally innovative home cook! No one has to know your secret. Now that I have hipped you to some cooking secrets, let’s talk about partying. There was certainly no way I was going to be able to eat the 12 tubs of dip that were sent to me for review. I decided to share the wealth and bring them to my office to throw an afternoon Chips and Dips Party for my team. This is how it went down. I brought everything to the office in a portable cooler bag and stashed it in our large fridge until early afternoon.
One day earlier, I sent an invite to my team members announcing that we would be having afternoon snacks near my desk, and giving them a teaser of what was to come by dropping all of the delicious flavors of Bitchin’ Sauce dips they would be enjoying along with Pringles potato chips and Trader Joe’s tortilla corn chips. This created an exciting buzz in the office and there was a definitely a feeling of heightened anticipation as Party Time drew near. Because: people love snacks.
With the help of a two coworkers, we laid out the dips on sheets of paper with each dip’s name printed on it (great idea, glad I thought of it). Next, we carefully removed the stay-fresh plastic film from the tops of each tub, and added a spoon for serving to prevent any double-dipping. Soon, the party was in full swing, with the team hovering around the Bitchin’ Sauce Chips and Dips Buffet like hungry Vikings.
Bluntly put, Bitchin’ Sauce was a huge hit. Please enjoy this real and uncensored feedback I received from my coworkers (names not changed):
Praveen:
Thanks for bringing in the Bitchin’ Sauces, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My favorites were Bombay (being Indian, I have to support), and Cilantro Chili.
Binbin:
Thanks for the Dips & Chips Party 2024! It’s very nice of you sharing those delicious dips with us. Actually, I like all 12 flavors, and have never tried so many different flavor dips/spreads at the same time before. Each was creamy and savory with natural and healthy ingredients — yummy! I think I would buy and use them to prepare salsa, sandwiches, and home-made appetizers/meals in the future. My favorite flavors were both the Green Onion and Caramelized Onion.
Ella:
I love that all dips had only natural ingredients and no preservatives. They were simply delicious and very light.
There were no leftovers as all remaining dips went home with those who enjoyed that flavor the best. Cleanup was easy because each tub was sitting on a piece of paper, everyone got a delicious afternoon snack, Bitchin’ Sauce gained two dozen new fans, and I looked like an Office Superstar! Win, win, win!
