Remembering Benjamin Orr
On This Date, October 3rd in 2000: Benjamin Orr, bassist and one of the vocalists for The Cars died of pancreatic cancer at his home in Atlanta, GA. He was 53 years old. Ben sang lead on The Cars’ breakthrough hit, “Just What I Needed” and on the band’s biggest hit, “Drive.” Also, he was super hot. RIP Ben!
RIP Patrick Swayze
September 14 2009: Actor and classically trained dancer Patrick Swayze, star of the blockbuster films Dirty Dancing and Ghost has passed away in Los Angeles after losing his two year batter with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

Pink Floyd keyboard player and founding member Richard “Rick” Wright has died on September 15th, 2008 after a short struggle with cancer. He was 65. Wright was a member of Pink Floyd from their first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason. David Gilmour joined the band at the start of 1968 while Barrett left the group shortly afterwards. Wright penned songs on classic albums including The Dark Side Of The Moon – “The Great Gig In The Sky” and “Us And Them” – and Wish You Were Here.
Enuff Z’Nuff Drummer Ricky Parent Succumbs to Cancer

I’m a little late to the game on this one but I just found out that Ricky Parent lost his long battle with cancer on October 27th, 2007. He was 44 years old. Ricky played drums for one of my favorite bands, Enuff Z’Nuff and he was a super sweet guy and a great drummer. I first heard that Ricky had cancer a few years ago, when Enuff Z’Nuff’s former manager hooked us up with the idea that I might use my skills as a Reiki practitioner to help Ricky with his recovery. Sadly, we could never make that happen, but until this afternoon I thought Ricky had recovered from his illness. My heart goes out to Ricky’s family, friends and bandmates on hearing this sad news.
