Do you like pasta? I sure do. I recently had the pleasure of cooking with new gourmet pasta sauces that took me on a delightful Italian culinary experience from start to finish. As a lover of Italian cuisine, but especially pasta with mouthwatering sauces, I was excited to receive a surprise package from Filippo Berio that included two jars of their latest pesto sauce flavors: Basil & Ricotta, and Truffle. Both sauces are produced in Liguria, Italy, the birthplace of pesto, which can only add an authentic touch to any meal. Continue reading Product Review: Filippo Berio Gourmet Pesto Sauces→
People can choose to travel the world for completely different reasons. Some might go just to relax, others go for work, someone else travels to get an education or medical treatment, but there are those who go on a trip to eat delicious food! It is certainly very pleasant to get acquainted with the traditions of a country or region, tasting fragrant dishes and fine drinks. If you are planning to go on a gastronomic trip, you probably want to know which destinations to choose. Let’s see what’s relevant today.
If you agree that the mood and comfort-level set by a restaurant’s decor is equally important as the food they serve, then you have to check out La Pulperia, a welcome addition to the many excellent dining options in Hell’s Kitchen. Opened in March of 2021, La Pulperia provides diners with fun, innovative Latin American cuisine and cocktails, showcasing renditions of familiar dishes infused with cross-cultural flair. Not only is the food delicious, but the interior design of the space will charm you and enhance your dining experience tremendously.
Remember The Before Times, when NYC’s semi-annual Restaurant Week lasted just one week? Back then, you had to act fast or miss your chance to dine-out at a fancy, expensive restaurant for a bargain price. Well, things are different now, and Restaurant Week continues for an entire month! Wow! This means you still have until August 21st to take advantage of all kinds of special deals. Interested? I hear you, because dining out is awesome. If you’re looking for a place that serves eclectic fare, located in a neighborhood you probably haven’t spent any time in (in other words a Culinary Adventure), I’d like to recommend UN Plaza Grill, the city’s premier globally-inspired kosher restaurant. For what happens to be the 30th Anniversary of NYC Restaurant Week, UN Plaza Grill is offering a three-course prix fixe for just $60. Let’s take a look at what they’re serving.
There is much to be said in favor of being ‘unassuming,’ and when speaking of a new favorite dining spot, all the better. Picture a restaurant whose non-descript exterior hints at a place where they serve a mean poke bowl or avocado toast. Once you’re inside and seated, however, you’re swept away by a menu rich with wildly inventive, farm-to-table creations that would be right at home in a Michelin-starred establishment. This was my inaugural experience at 8282, a recently-opened LES eatery serving distinctive modern Korean fare in a casual, comfortable setting. If a restaurant was ever a hidden gem, this is it.
