Joshua Liner Gallery To Host Silent Art Auction to Benefit Tim Strazza!

Defiant Youth By Shepard Fairey

On Thursday July 28, 2011, The Joshua Liner Gallery will hold a silent art auction / fund raiser, the proceeds of which will benefit its Assistant Director, Tim Strazza, who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. To help with Tim’s medical bills, many gallery artists and friends of the gallery have donated artworks, including Shawn Barber, Jeremy Fish, Tat Ito, Chris Mendoza, Ron English, Jim Houser, Swoon, Josh Keyes, Swoon, Sylvia Ji, Oliver Vernon, Shepard Fairey and many others!

The Worleygig is proud to announce a Pink Thing that is not only awesomely pink but also benefits a very worthwhile cause. The Pinkburst Project, sponsored by Guitarist Jay Jay French of Twisted Sister, is a collection of one-of-a-kind, custom made guitars from a variety of leading instrument manufacturers including Gibson, Fender, Paul Reed Smith, Epiphone, Gretsch and Martin. There is also a matching collection of pink custom amps from Marshall, Fender, Vox, Mesa, Orange, Hartke and Diamond. Yes, It Exists: Andy Warhol Head Piñata

As part of its Brooklyn Ball Fundraising Event (April 22nd), the lobby of The Brooklyn Museum is currently displaying a twenty-foot-tall piñata in the shape of Andy Warhol’s head! This year’s Brooklyn Ball will celebrate the landmark partnership between the Brooklyn Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in creating the largest and most comprehensive costume collection in the world. This sounds so awesome; I wish I had a spare $500 lying around to blow on a ticket. As far as what Andy Warhol’s head made into a piñata has to do with anything, well, supposedly it will be filled with some kid of edible thing as it hangs amid “a series of food installations that also includes drinking paintings and suspended melting cheese heads.” Art!

A bunch of guys in my office that have no business trying to grow hair on their faces are doing this Grow a Mustache thing to raise awareness of male cancers. This Beard Bro movement is pretty awesome except that they all look ridiculous (see photo above), but it’s for a good cause, so maybe you want to check it out and grow a mustache yourself! Mustache!
