When artist and sculptor Louise Bourgeois passed away in 2010 at the age of 98, she left behind a staggeringly rich legacy of art created in a multitude of mediums. Geoffrey and I were fortunate to be able to attend the Guggenheim Museum’s ambitious and highly successful 2008 Retrospective of her life’s work, which was possibly the most comprehensive and impressive retrospective I’ve yet seen. I mean, the woman did everything. What an amazing talent and what a huge loss to the art world, but how lucky were we to have her for 98 years? So lucky. Margaret Thatcher Projects Gallery Presents Venske & Spänle’s Wanderlust
Yesterday was the first “no coat required” day to grace NYC weather in about 2 months, so I took advantage of the pleasant outsider conditions to venture across town to a few galleries on West 23rd Street. While I had missed the opening party on Thursday, I wanted to make sure I saw the Wanderlust exhibit currently on view at Margaret Thatcher Projects. You can see by these pictures that it was worth trip.

Must See Art: Cary Kwok’s Obsession at Flag Art Foundation
Although it opened way back in November, it took me until yesterday to get to the Flag Art Foundation to check out artist Cary Kwok’s latest show, Obsession – mainly because the gallery’s minimal hours have kept me from getting all the way over to West 25th Street and 11th Avenue on a week day. Thank god that Flag has Saturday hours, because I really would have hated to miss such a fantastic and unusual exhibit!
