In 1965, the Arco toy company (later acquired by Mattel) manufactured a Flintstones Bowling Game with pins molded in the likeness of Fred Flintstone. Fred sure did love to bowl.

This handsome likeness of Lord Darth Vader is proudly displayed alongside a Tie Fighter and the back end of a Tauntaun in this photo that I snapped at the Museum of the Moving Image on a recent visit. Note that Vader is not merely an action figure in this case, but an official doll, suitable for cavorting with Barbie should she grow bored with Ken and wish to make a move to the Dark Side.
It makes sense that I am not the biggest Star Wars fan, because I had no idea that a Jabba The Hutt Playset even existed until I saw this one on display at the Museum of the Moving Image (visit recommended) in Queens over the weekend. Art and Light — they go together. We were very excited to visit Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery for its new exhibition of new work by Jim Campbell, which opened March 7th, 2014. The show focuses on the pioneering artist’s most recent series of sculptural light installations. Campbell is considered one of the leading artists working today in the field of new media and his work is both fun and fascinating.
