There are two things you can usually count on when attending an art opening at Pace Gallery: The art will be physically imposing in some way and the room will be absolutely packed. Such was the case last Thursday when we attended the reception for an exhibit by Chinese artist Zhang Xiaogang, who has been represented by Pace since 2007.

I first heard the name Joseph Arthur over 13 years ago, when he was recording for Peter Gabriel’s Real World label (then distributed by Virgin). What I discovered closely in tandem with his music is Joseph’s distinctive, almost primitive Picasso-esque style of abstract drawing, which you could see adorning his album covers and T Shirts. Here’s another exhibit that we checked out on a whim during last Thursday’s very rewarding art crawl, only to have it end up as one of the highlights of the evening: Blue Jean Blues by Korean contemporary artist Kim Joon. For his newest series of digital prints, Kim uses porcelain as his digital medium, putting him at the forefront of the new-media movement. Yeah, I know that I’m a little but late to the game with this post, being as Easter was yesterday, but I didn’t see it until today so, there you go. Plus I figured it would be a fun way to remind everyone to head on over to the Brooklyn Museum to see their wonderful Keith Haring exhibit, which is super fun.
Happy Easter to all my Peeps! I’m not sure if the lady in these photos is celebrating Easter, but she sure is showing off her admirable figure highlighted by lovely spring floral colors, and she looks just awesome, despite the fact that Hello Kitty has to be involved. Maybe her shoes could fit a little bit better, but other than that, all good.
