Recommended Listening: Lita Ford, Living Like a Runaway

Lita Ford Living Like a Runaway Cover

Lita Ford doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. She’s been playing guitar professionally since she was a teenager, and while she’s partied as hard as any Rock Star, Ford has kept her private life private, raised a family and still managed to maintain a high level of respect in the rock community for her skillful musicianship, which was never compromised by the fact that she’s also a beautiful woman.

I remember reviewing her Greatest Hits Live CD when it was released in 2000 and being so blown away by what a great performer she is and how much fun she and her band seem to be having on stage. She’s never lost sight of what it means to have a Rock & Roll heart, and you have to respect that. So many performers could learn a few lessons on how to rock from Lita Ford. Maybe she’s never been a household name, but when she comes around, people take notice. Lita’s new album, the autobiographical Living Like a Runaway, signals that it’s time to start paying attention again. Continue reading Recommended Listening: Lita Ford, Living Like a Runaway

RIP Robin Gibb

Bee Gees Group
The Bee Gees: Maurice, Barry and Robin Gibb

Wow, this is so sad. Just a few days after the death of disco legend Donna Summer, another Disco-era icon, Robin Gibb, member of The Bee Gees, has passed today, May 20th, 2012, following a long battle with cancer. Gibb was 62 years old. His death leaves his older brother Barry Gibb as the last surviving member of the group. Robin Gibb’s twin bother, Maurice, passed away in 2003. RIP, Robin, and thanks for all the great music.

I admit that this awesome chair first caught my eye because I have this very same signed print by artist Sylvia Ji hanging on my wall in a very conspicuous place, so I stare directly at it multiple times a day. The Maria Throne, as its called, is a limited edition single-person sofa made using hand-shaped mahogany frames, with hand carvings and a black gloss lacquer finish.  It’s upholstered traditionally, using high-density foams, with a faux suede fabric bearing the Day of the Dead-esque print on the seat back and rear of the chair.

If suede isn’t your thing, you can request a special leather option with the exact same print (at an extra price, of course). Manufactured in a limited edition of just 33 pieces, each one with a sequentially numbered Certificate of Authenticity printed on the bottom,  this is not only a gorgeous piece of furniture but a highly collectible work of art, because Sylvia Ji is hot stuff!  The Maria Throne can be yours for £1,595, ($2,522.65) with shipping free to UK addresses.
