Chanel’s fall 2015 collection, Brasserie Gabrielle, was shown in a detailed set referencing a French bistro, celebrating the simple leisure of mealtimes through well-dressed patrons, but also impeccably dressed waiters.
Journalist Robin Givhan wrote that designer Karl Lagerfeld conflates, high and low, “manipulating their uniform, he blurs the line between workmen basics, and high society’s favorite uniform: the tuxedo.
Special attention is given to details in the handbag, which resembles stacked and branded plates, and the skirt which appears to be made of ruffled, fine linen napkins.
