Decorating is something a lot of people associate with special occasions, such as birthdays or Halloween. It can be fun to put out unique adornments for these events, particularly if you’re hosting a party. People also think about decorating when moving to a new home.

Your decor does more than fill a space. It can impact your mood, and redecorating is an effective way to give yourself a mental boost each season. Instead of adding holiday decor throughout the year, transforming your indoor and outdoor spaces can help you embrace the new season. Let’s explore some fun decor for each season!

While the NYC edition of  our favorite biannual art event, the Affordable Art Fair, reemerged from its Covid-imposed hiatus in the spring of this year, the fair’s fall edition (which took place over four days in late September) showed a significant return to form. Not only has the fair increased the number of exhibitors to again fill the second floor of their space at the Metropolitan Pavilion, but the sponsored open bar was back as well! Most importantly, the variety of unique artworks for sale has taken a step up. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite pieces!

Bridesmaid dress-hunting can be lots of fun, especially when you have these incredible 2021 fall trends — according to the newly released fall bridesmaid dress collection of AW Bridal  — to choose from.

Of course, you must first determine who will pay for the bridesmaid dresses. Even if someone else is paying for them, the bride should also have some say about what the bridesmaids wear, whether that’s specifying a specific color to match the wedding color scheme, or requesting a particular aesthetic to match the wedding themes, such as boho or glam. And you should unquestionably have the power to veto.

Peace Sign Fall Leaf Wreath

With the short span of time this year between celebrating Thanksgiving and the arrival of Christmas, it’s easy to forget that it’s still technically fall in NYC. That said, by Black Friday afternoon, fall decor was in a losing battle with Christmas decorations that started appearing on the streets and in storefronts shortly after Halloween. Crazy.

I doubt that this lovely autumn leaf wreath is made from actual leaves (it’s likely silk or some other fabric), but dang if it didn’t make me stop in my tracks and appreciate the beauty of nature when I saw it adorning the face of a Brownstone in Chelsea. And what a nice sentiment as well: Peace. Here’s the full shot below. Breathtaking.

For many New Yorkers, the fist sign of Fall might be the changing of the leaves, or a noticeable dip in temperatures; but for me, it’s the arrival of the Affordable Art Fair, which is the first big art event of the season. Whether you’re shopping for art, looking for inspiration, or just enjoy the social aspect of the fair, the AAFNYC offers something to satisfy every artistic palette. My tastes tend to run to pop and very contemporary art, so I’m going to show you a lot pieces that fit into those categories. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Grapefruit Beer

The Affordable Art Fair takes place across five days — Wednesday evening through Sunday afternoon — but you’ll always find me there during opening night’s Private View evening, when most of the press attend, and when there’s an open bar! This season’s bar was co-sponsored by Schoffenhofer Grapefruit Beer, which is my favorite drink in the entire universe. It. Is. So. Delicious.
