I know that Dunkin Donuts sells excellent coffee and tasty donuts and everything but when I look at this commercial all I can say is…What does this even mean? According to someone I know, this is a brand new commercial for which Ace had to get permission to use his signature makeup and outfit from Gene Simmons, because he sold his trademark to the character when he left the band the first time in 1982! Way to go, Ace, as they say.
Yeah, yeah, I know the punchline to that joke is “freeze hot water,” but seriously, this video is amazing. If anyone can tell me the band that does the soundtrack music, be a mensch and drop me a note in the comments!
A guy in my office just turned me on to Quiltsrÿche, a completely insane company that makes custom designed heavy metal bed quilts. “Quiltsrÿche turns traditional quilting on its ear with modern heirloom quilts that look like they were made by your metal-loving, half-blind Grandma. Bold designs, eye-popping color combinations and a touch of evil are the hallmarks of Quiltsrÿche quilts. A one-of-a-kind rock quilt won’t match your curtains, but it will have enough character and craftsmanship to captivate you year after headbanging year.” Oh my god, I want one so bad. Check out these designs:
“Skullfucked”
Remember that Iron Maiden poster that was so scary you had to hide it in your closet? Did you lay awake at night expecting Eddie to come to life? When I sleep with “Skullfucked” on my bed, I’m kinda scared — in that good way. This quilt reinterprets a traditional “half-log cabin” design with sinister results. Run to the hills!
“You’re so beautiful…you could be a part-time model…”
Are you watching HBO’s hilarious new show, Flight of The Conchords? Oh my god, it is so awesome. I watch it every Sunday after Entourage and then when Tracy comes over on Monday nights to watch, Big Love with me, she makes sure to arrive at The Chickpad half an hour early so we can watch Flight of The Conchords again together. Then we talk about it and sing the songs to each other all week.
Gail has been a friend for a few years now. She has fantastic energy and is a pleasure to talk to and be around. Since the interviews she did with me for Modern Drummer and Metal Edge last year, I have had many compliments from friends, fans and industry folk still to this day. I very much appreciate her help in getting my name out there and hope that we can connect again in the near future. We should be thankful that she is a fan of the music and wants to write about people she cares about whether they are of mainstream success or from the underground. Thanks again, Gail . . . keep up the great work!
