Imagine, if you will, the third season of AMC’s The Killing as soundtracked by bands like Alphaville and A-ha. Imagine it! This mysterious, but highly engaging video for Metropolis America’s “A Stolen Heart in a Stolen Car” is short on dead teenage prostitutes and sullen, chain smoking detectives but manages to capture a kind of noir, what-the-hell-is-going-on vibe with its not inconsiderably complex storyline, while the music conjures favorable memories of “Take On Me” and “Forever Young.” So, all good. You know how Sweet and Salty taste combinations in the snack realm are kind of trending, as they say, right now? I’m down with that, but I also think that when you add a little crunch action to the sweet and salty flavor sensation, you truly reach for the sublime. The Praim Group, who recently introduced the Andy Warhol Chocolate Bar have seemingly all the bases covered with their new chocolate bar called Edamame Crunch. The Edamame Crunch Bars are made with dry roasted edamame (immature soybeans in the pod) and a touch of sea salt blended with either Dark or Milk Chocolate. I’ve already eaten half of one of the Milk Chocolate bars while watching AMC’s Walking Dead Marathon and I will confess that this is the creamiest, most indulgent chocolate I have eaten in bar form. Plus, the crunchy edamame and tiny flecks of sea salt take this snack experience to a whole other level. It makes me wonder what Chocolate-covered wasabi peas might taste like (Mmm…wasabi peas). Maybe Praim Group will invent that next! The 3.5 ounce all-natural, Kosher, dark and milk chocolate Edamame Crunch Bars are now available for purchase at just $2.95 per bar wherever fine chocolate is sold!
Just last month, I finally rented the first season of The Walking Dead from Netflix so I could see what everyone I know has been raving about — and I wasn’t disappointed! This series is the coolest Zombie program since Dead Set (which nobody but me even saw)! Season 2 isn’t on DVD yet, but fortunately I’ll be catching up this weekend (July 7th & 8th) since AMC is having a Walking Dead Season 3 Preview Weekend! If you need to leave the house at all, get ready to set your DVRs to AMC on Saturday, July 7th and Sunday, July 8th beginning at 11:30AM/10:30c each day!
The two-day programming event will feature a marathon of all 19 episodes from the series’ critically acclaimed first two seasons, culminating with a live prime time special, Talking Dead on Sunday at 9/8c. The one-time-only airing of Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick (Nerdist), will be followed by a never-before-seen black and white version of The Walking Dead pilot episode at 10/9c. The special version of the series’ first episode was created specifically for fans of The Walking Dead, as it holds true to the original black and white comic book, written by Robert Kirkman.
