When it comes to pushing fashion into the future, no one did it quite like Pierre Cardin. This week’s Pink Thing is a striking Pink Silk Jersey Jumpsuit from 2008, a perfect example of the late designer’s lifelong devotion to bold form, saturated color, and theatrical flair. With its sweeping batwing sleeves, tapered legs, and shimmering black fringe at the neckline and cuffs, this jumpsuit transforms the body into a living sculpture.

Outdoor dining, which because crazy popular during the Covid lockdown a few years back, has endured here in NYC — especially during the summer months, when everyone wants to eat outside. This peaceful pink scene featuring an open window, a bouquet of flowers displayed in a Flamingo vase, and the protective shade of a Pink Umbrella, was spotted outside Ladybird vegetarian restaurant in the East Village. May the summer never end.

Sons of German and French cabinetmaking families, they defined a new take on Modern Gothic design, a style that originated in Britain and was embraced by a growing middle class in the post–Civil War United States.
