October 20, 2007 FRANCE – Ministry’s bassist Paul Raven was found dead today in a private home in a small French village on the Swiss border. Initial reports indicate Raven’s passing was due to a heart attack. Raven (known also for his work with Killing Joke, Prong) was in Geneva working with French recording artists Treponem Pal on their new release, with Marco Neves, Ted Parsons (Prong) and members of The Young Gods.
Groundbreaking American Artist Andy Warhol passed away on this day, February 22nd, in 1987. He was 58 years old. I recall that on that day, I was at a Julian Cope show at Club Lingerie in Hollywood when Copey announced from the stage between songs, “I just thought of something: Andy Warhol’s dead.” I was bootlegging the show so I have that on tape if I am ever asked to prove it. Andy died on the operating table in the midst of gallbladder surgery. Andy Warhol was one of the most original and visionary modern artists ever and is probably my favorite artist to this day. I still miss him.
It is with a not-that-heavy heart that I am announcing the recent death of my Guest Book. After spending too much time, several times a day, cleaning out innumerable spam messages for such can’t-live-without-it items as Texas Hold’ Em Gambling Websites, Viagra, “David’s Prom Dresses” and Cialis, I decided it would be in the best interest of my right wrist to close the Guest Book to new comments. No one had left a new message in six months anyway. Words of faint praise and clever communications can still be sent to me directly or left on my FaceBook Fan Page.
