A Wee Bit of Wizard of Oz Movie Trivia

“Now, Fly!”

From Neatorama:

Originally, a scene with an insect called the Jitterbug was shot for the movie. It involved a dance sequence with Dorothy, the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Scarecrow, but was ultimately cut due to time constraints. However, you can still hear a reference to the scene in the movie when the Wicked Witch of the West sends the flying monkeys after the gang. She says,

“Take your army to the Haunted Forest, and bring me that girl and her dog.
Do as you like with the others, but I want her alive and unharmed!
They’ll give you no trouble. I promise you that.
I’ve sent a little insect on ahead to take the fight out of them.
Take special care of those ruby slippers.
I want those most of all. Now fly!”

Motley Crue Kick Start My Heart at Madison Square Garden!

All Photos by Geoffrey Dicker!

I have said it many times before – and I am saying it again right now – that I would rather listen to Motley Crue songs like “Dr. Feelgood” or “Shout at the Devil” one hundred million billion times than be forced to listen to the majority of today’s shitty, modern alternative trash rock for fifteen seconds. Because, here’s the thing, Motley Crue – undeniable walking punch lines that they are – are nevertheless a bonafide gang of dangerous, ex-drug addict rock stars from an old school of Rock with a Capital R that, really, does not exist anymore. For this, I worship them openly. Continue reading Motley Crue Kick Start My Heart at Madison Square Garden!

World’s Gayest Photo of Sean Connery: Uncovered!

Sean Connery and His Junk

I don’t even know what to say about this classic shot of Sean Connery from the 1973 film Zardoz, except I’d love to see Javier Bardem in a similar outfit.

Clive Barker’s Midnight Meat Train Arrives on the Big Screen

Midnight Train to Meat Town
Very Scary

While Googling for information on the upcoming Dario Argento film, Giallo (starring Adrian Brody, hot) I happily stumbled on the news that Clive Barker’s totally fucked up short story Midnight Meat Train (which made me afraid to ride the subway at night for about a year after reading) has been made into a film. Although I doubt there is any possible way that the movie could be truly faithful to the story – because people’s heads would explode – hearing that Japanese horror master Ryuhei Kitamura is directing gives me some hope that this film might actually be authentically disturbing and not just another schlock torture porn flick with no substance. Brandon Lee in The Crow

March 31, 1993: Brandon Lee, whose father, martial arts legend Bruce Lee died at age 32, dies during the filming of what proves to be his final movie, The Crow, after a freak accident in which a prop gun loaded with blanks fires a bullet that had previously been lodged in its barrel. He was 28 years old.
