Glass artist Toots Zynsky (b. 1951) has taken the idea of the Venetian latticini (glass threads used for decorative effect) to its logical extreme. She had a machine developed to draw glass threads to her own specifications in order to use them as a painter uses tubes of color. I recently went on one of my urban adventures to the city of Newark, New Jersey, where I visited the small but impressive Newark Museum of Art. That’s where I found this week’s Pink Thing, or things, as there are many of them. I’m sure you will agree, they are quite lovely.
