Some pieces don’t just hang from the ceiling — they descend, like a moment caught mid-fall. This circa 1902 chandelier, created through the collaboration of Johann Loetz Witwe and E. Bakalowits Söhne, is less about rigid structure and more about movement, rhythm, and glow.

What immediately stands out is its verticality. Rather than a traditional branching chandelier, this one is composed of a series of long, delicate drops — textile-wrapped cords punctuated with rich amber glass beads. I’ve posted about lighting made from recycled drums before but these ceiling lamps, made from two toms discarded from a Pearl Kit, have a kind of rustic charm I really like. From what I can gather, these lamps were originally created by an Etsy user and successfully sold. You could probably figure out how to make them yourself if you had a few spare drums laying around.

Ah, I get a little nostalgic for my long dead first iMac when I see how these (now ancient) iMac G3 carcasses have been gutted and re-purposed as pendant lighting for a travel agency called G Adventures. Clever!

These Garlic Bulb pendant lamps designed by Anton Naselevets would be an amazing ambient and thematically appropriate addition to the décor of an Italian restaurant, particularly a restaurant like The Stinking Rose — which specializes garlic-based cuisine! See in the photo below how directional light comes from the underside of the shade – so cool!
