Industrial designer Joey Zeledón used Bauhaus Leglend Marcel Breuer’s ‘Cesca chair as a inspiration for this innovative seating design that combines the famliar continuous steel rod frame with colorful coat hangers replacing the classic cane seat and back. Spotted at 2023’s International Conetmporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), the Coat Check Chair allows the user many possibilites for personalizing the frame to suit their taste.

The perfect package fresh from the dry cleaners contains a garment free from mites, dirt, wrinkles, and any other signs of human life. Both laundered object and smells are contained – captured – underneath a thin plastic sheen. A necessitated by-product of office life, dry cleaners dot every neighborhood in New York City, their large windows opening onto racks of hung garments, pressed together, sterile, separated and contained by layers and layers of that shining, thin plastic – low density polyethylene, also known as LDPE plastic # four.

Sui Park’s Summer Vibe Installation in Riverside Park

If you’re looking for a fun way to get in your daily steps, while enjoying nature and discovering a bit of contemporary art, then head on over to Riverside Park and check out RE:GROWTH, A Celebration of Art, Riverside Park, and the New York Spirit, a summer-long public art exhibit which includes site-specific works by 24 artists and covers 100 blocks of the westside park and waterfront.

Among my favorites of these works is an entirely charming fantasy garden installation by New York-based Korean artist Sui Park entitled Summer Vibe.  While not entirely accessible — it’s located behind a locked gate — Summer Vibe is easily spotted along Riverside Drive at 78th Street as long as you know what you’re looking for.
