Do you like Pizza? I sure do. The only problem I have with pizza is that, if I make a frozen pizza at home, it is a challenge to not eat the entire thing all at once. Because pizza is delicious. So, thank god that Better4U Foods has created a way to save me from myself by expanding its line of healthy convenience foods with the launch of a new personal-sized, 7-inch version of the company’s frozen multigrain gluten-free pizzas. Hallelujah!
Last year, I had the opportunity to Review Better 4U, full sized gluten-free pizzas — which exceeded my expectations for taste and quality — so I was super excited about receiving a selection of the personal pizzas to write about for The Gig. I am happy to report that, as much as I loved my experience last year, it seems that Better 4U has even found a way to improve on their delicious and high-quality gluten-free crust.
This is what the Pepperoni Pizza looks like after cooking according to package directions. How gorgeous is that? The crust is crisp, but there is a fluffy, fresh-baked-bread layer between the toppings and the crispness, which is just ideal, as far as I’m concerned. The cheese is fresh and plentiful and the uncured pepperoni cooks up nice and crisp. And this little pizza will satisfy your appetite for just 420 guilt-free calories!
One evening, a friend of mine who has a gluten intolerance came over for a night of TV and snacks, so we made the Mediterranean and Roasted Vegetable Pizzas and split them. She was totally won over!
I think this looks and tastes as good as any pizza you would buy at your favorite take out place. The only difference is it’s ready to bake when you’re ready to eat it, and it saves you a few bucks. Each 9.5-oz personal pizza has a suggested retail price of $5.99 to $6.99. What a Bargain!
A company-owned, certified gluten-free facility in Ontario produces these personal pizzas, and each pizza contains 15 grams of whole grains. With Four Cheese, Roasted Vegetable, Pepperoni and Mediterranean varieties to choose from, there is really something for everybody, but If you prefer to make a gluten-free pizza with your desired, unique selection of toppings, Better 4U offers a shelf stable gluten-free pizza crust! For Vegans, there is the dairy free gluten-free Roasted Vegetable pizza as an option.

Do you like Pepperoni? I sure do. To me, pepperoni pizza is especially delicious when the pepperoni is very thinly sliced so that it gets crispy like bacon and curls up around the edges when it comes out of the oven. Oh my goodness, heavenly. Pepperoni sometimes scares people, however, because it can contain a lot of salt and hidden preservatives, which are the very things that help to make it so delicious. What a conundrum.
Fortunately, Applegate Organic and Natural Meats offers two great tasting varieties of uncured Pepperoni, one made from pork and one made from Turkey. Both are lean, tender and flavored with the just the right amount of spice. Not only do they make killer Pepperoni Pizzas, but the taste is mild enough that you can easily use them to make sandwiches and party snacks or just eat it straight from the package. Versatile!
Here are some little sandwiches I made after heating the Turkey Pepperonis in a skillet for just a few minutes.
I made this Pepperoni and Scrambled Egg Breakfast Pizza using Arnold Multigrain Sandwich Thins as the crust. So easy!
And Frozen Pizza always needs extra Pepperoni on it, amiright?
Applegate Naturals Pepperoni contains no preservatives, so be sure to keep it refrigerated before and after opening. Likewise, it contains no nitrates or nitrites except for those occurring naturally in sea salt and celery powder, which are added for seasoning. All animals are humanely raised and the meat has no antibiotics and is gluten and casein free. All of these qualities contribute to this pepperoni being one delicious meat product!

I’m one of those lucky foodies who can eat pretty much whatever I want without any worry about food allergies or gaining weight! I can just hear all of you in the nearest Waist Trainer Center shaking your fists at me. But I have a couple of family members who are on gluten free diets, and they have been pretty vocal about how much they miss the simple pleasure of eating pizza. Life Without Pizza; that is a sad thing to contemplate.
Fortunately there is such a thing as gluten free frozen pizza! Better 4U Foods is a family owned and operated company that has introduced a line gluten free pizzas made with only all natural ingredients that provide healthier alternatives than their competitors on the frozen pizza market. Better 4 U sent me couple of their pizza varieties – Uncured Pepperoni and Four Cheese – which I prepared and ate in my home on separate occasions over the span of a week. Here is my report.
This is what the Pepperoni Pizza looks like after baking in a 395 degree oven for 18 minutes, according to package directions. It is worth noting that the scent of cooking pepperoni was distinctive and the pizza smelled very delicious and home-made while it was in the oven.
The cheese is rather golden because my oven may have been a little hot, due to guessing at what 395 degrees was on an oven that has the temperatures marked at 400 and 375. Still, it looks pretty close to the photo on the box. And although I did not “art direct” the pepperoni placement before baking, there are 12 slices of pepperoni present and accounted for, just as depicted in the packaging photo.
The crust – perfectly golden, not scorched at all and about the color of a brown paper bag – turns out to be very crispy and “sturdy” but maintains a fluffy, bread-like consistency under the sauce and toppings, which I found very appealing. I have eaten gluten free pizza in a restaurant previous to this and I would say the Better 4 U crust was of a comparable texture. It does not taste exactly like regular gluten containing pizza crust, but it tastes good.
The tomato sauce had a distinctive peppery flavor which complimented the lean and not-too-spicy Pepperoni.
The cheese is more shaved than grated, so it has a bit of a tendency to “fly” when removing the pizza from the wrapper. I suggest using great care when removing the plastic wrap, then placing the uncooked pizza on a plate and shaking any cheese that has escaped from the packaging and supportive cardboard round back onto the pizza. That said, the cheese is natural mozzarella and tasted very delicious and fresh prior to cooking. It is the quality of cheese I would use when making pizza from scratch.
As previously noted, there is a decent number pepperoni slices but I suppose you could add more to your liking. Same goes for the cheese. More is always better.
Normally, I could eat an entire pizza of this size by myself, but this pizza is very filling and after two slices I was stuffed. I reheated my leftover pepperoni pizza in the oven a day or two after my initial heating and it was still good. I did end up adding more cheese.
I had the Four Cheese Pizza last night. This how it looks out of the box:
Again, I cooked it for 18 minutes in a conventional oven at a close approximation of 395 degrees.
It looks pretty good, right? I did not expect to actually like the Four Cheese even better than the Pepperoni, (because pepperoni is my thing) but that is what happened.
Better 4 U Gluten Free Pizzas also come in Mediterranean, Roasted Vegetable and a Vegan-friendly, Dairy-Free Roasted Vegetable variety. Find out more about Better 4 U pizzas and their other delicious foods by visiting their website at This Link!
According to my sources, “Heart Shaped Pizza” is currently trending on Twitter, so I had to get this up as quickly as possible. Because, trending.
Small Print Says: “If you buy a heart shaped pizza for your girlfriend it means she’s either imaginary or inflatable.”

I have to admit, these little rascals look pretty tasty.
This Recession is Awesome! By Lucas Kavner
Mom and Dad keep talking about this recession and I gotta say: it’s awesome! Yesterday, I ate pizza for breakfast, mac and cheese and hot-dog cubes for lunch, and then more pizza for dinner! Mom said that I could eat as much McDonald’s as I want, and she even offered to leave me there in the ball pit for an entire day while she went and looked for new jobs! Awesome!
Every day after school, I used to go to violin lessons, but now Mom says I don’t have to go anymore! This is so awesome because the violin was so boring and my teacher, Mrs. Calabrass, smelled like the attic and didn’t let me drink soda! But now I don’t have to deal with Mrs. Calabrass or listen to stupid Brahms with her! I hate the attic – but I love this recession!
We’d planned to go to France or something for our family vacation. But now, since it’s the recession, we’re all going to Gilbert’s Goofy Park and playing mini-golf and going on the go-karts! And even batting cages maybe, too! I don’t think France has any batting cages or go-karts, so this is an amazing, amazing thing! I think if I’m good I can probably eat pizza at Gilbert’s Goofy Park! I love pizza and I love this recession!
Dad’s been home so much recently and it’s been awesome! He just wears underpants and watches sports highlights and eats Cooler Ranch Doritos, which sounds super fun! I have to go to school, so I only get to see him when I get home, but yesterday Dad and I played Xbox together for six hours! He started off pretty good at the games, but each hour he got worse and worse, and soon he started making weird noises! He even started saying his words all slow and jumbled like a crazy man! He’s really having a good time in this recession! So am I!
We used to have to drive like a gazillion hours in the car to get to Grandma’s weird big blue house with no TV, but now Grandma drives her new house over to us in her new RV! It’s amazing! I totally didn’t know cars could also be houses and have stoves and have TVs, but they can! Grandma has it all thanks to the recession. And so do I!
Man, I hope this recession never ends. Me and my friends always high-five each other when we hear an older person say, “Not in this economy,” because we know it always leads to something awesome for us! This is the best childhood ever! I could live like this for the rest of my life!
I love this recession!
