This morning I was a bit behind schedule getting out of the house – because I enjoy being asleep, and mornings bite the big one sideways. In my haste to slam the front door as loud and hard as I possibly could behind me, I not only forgot to grab my Netflick on the way out, but I also spaced on bringing my Tupperware full of tasty breakfast cereal with me. Needless to say, but you can see I am about to, I arrived at the office in need of procuring breakfast.Continue reading What I had for Breakfast Today and Why I am Still Talking About It→
Sharon and Stephen and I were at the Film Forum on Houston the other night to see Todd Haynes amazing new film, I’m Not There: the fact-based but still highly-impressionistic Bob Dylan biopic starring Richard Gere, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and the recently departed Heath Ledger, among others. I took today off work because I had to get some “personal business” taken care of this morning, and I knew I just wouldn’t feel like going into the office after that. So I stopped by Trader Joe’s for provisions on the way home and then spent the afternoon shuttered up in the chickpad writing an article on my new friend, Gene “The Machine” Hoglan. Gene is best known for his tenure on the drum throne of great metal bands like Dark Angel, Death and (my personal favorite) Strapping Young Lad. But lately he is getting all kinds of well-deserved kudos for playing drums on the Dethklok album, which to me is just the most ridiculously insane and cool thing in the world. Gene is so rad.
