Classic rock isn’t just about loud guitars and catchy choruses. It’s a genre that aims to tell stories, build worlds, and dig into complex human experiences, all within a three to six-minute song. The music itself is iconic, but it’s the deep lyrics that have made these tracks last so long. They’ve gone from simple radio hits to cultural touchstones that still connect with people decades later. From Joni Mitchell’s poetic stories to the deep thoughts of Peter Gabriel’s lyrics, these amazing lyrics pull listeners into a better understanding of what it means to be human.

Barbie’s Dreamhouse? So three  years ago. This week’s Pink Thing of the Day is the decidedly less wholesome Ed Gein’s Dreamhouse, a hilariously twisted creation from the darkly absurd animated series Cyanide & Happiness Show (on the Animation Plus Network).

At first glance, the house looks like it belongs in a kid’s Saturday morning cartoon. It’s Shocking Hot Pink from roof to foundation, complete with cheerful sparkles and the kind of cartoon charm that practically screams “family-friendly fun.” Then you notice the name. And the tiny figure peering out the upstairs window. Suddenly, this sugary suburban fantasy takes a sharp detour into the bizarre.

Mary Jane Watson has long been one of Marvel’s most recognizable supporting characters, but over the years she has grown far beyond that label. Since her full debut in Amazing Spider-Man #42, the character created by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. has evolved from Peter Parker’s love interest into a figure with her own distinct identity, moving through storylines as a model, a hero, and even a symbiote host. Now, on the occasion of her 60th anniversary, Marvel is spotlighting that evolution with Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger #1, a giant-sized one-shot designed to revisit key moments from her past while pointing toward what comes next. Marvel Unleashes Queen in Black: A Summer Showdown Between Two Gods of Evil

This summer, Marvel Comics is dialing the chaos all the way up with Queen in Black, a new five-issue crossover event that promises a full-on cosmic clash — with Earth stuck squarely in the danger zone.

Written by Al Ewing and illustrated by Iban Coello, Queen in Black #1 launches a story that pits two of Marvel’s most formidable forces against each other: Knull, the God of the Void, and Hela, the Asgardian ruler of the dead. When these two collide, it’s less “battle” and more “apocalyptic inevitability.”
